What's a few more murders when the August murder totals are already skyhigh! Couple found murdered after apartment fire

A man and woman were found dead, stabbed to death in a small West Rogers Park apartment after a small fire was extinguished there Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

A male and a female were found dead in the 6400 block of North Sacramento Avenue after police were called to the scene at 4:18 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.

Police, citing preliminary information, said firefighters found the man and woman in the third-floor apartment after the fire, and the two appeared to have been stabbed to death. Both victims were also wrapped in blankets, according to a police source.

The Fire Department was called to a courtyard apartment building for a small fire about 4 p.m. and the fire was extinguished within a few minutes, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

Two people were found dead in the apartment, and fire officials turned over the scene to police as a crime scene, Langford said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office had been notified of the deaths, but did not immediately release the victims' identities.

It is good to see the citizens of the North Side have the same "Chicago Values" as the citizens of the South and West Sides.
