Well over priced for her services.Chicago man on parole for a drug conviction was arrested for the shooting death of a Dallas woman inside a Gold Coast hotel earlier this week, the Tribune has learned.
Authorities took the 28-year-old man into custody late Tuesday night at his home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood for the slaying of Brianna Gardner, 22, of Dallas, according to Chicago police.
It wasn't immediately clear what led police to the suspect.
Police responded at about 10 a.m. Monday to the Whitehall Hotel in the 100 block of East Delaware Place and found the woman in one of the rooms, police said.
At least one guest staying near the victim's seventh-floor hotel room heard what sounded like a gunshot about 3:30 a.m., but police were not immediately notified, authorities said.
Hours later, a cleaning crew arrived to the victim's room and found her dead, authorities said. The crew mentioned the discovery to hotel management, who in turn called the police.
Gardner was shot in the head and her death was ruled a homicide, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The suspect, who has previous convictions for residential burglary and aggravated battery, was out on parole for 2007 drug conviction, according to state records.
