Chicago cop whose home was raided by Chicago cops is awarded $565,000 in damages

Click below and read the full news story... the cops involved got hammered with some pretty hefty punitive damages that they must pay out of their own pockets...
When Chicago police broke into his Austin home with guns drawn and a search warrant, Markee Cooper Sr., a cop himself, and his family could only look on as drawers and closets were searched for crack cocaine based on an alleged informant's tip.

On Friday, a federal jury awarded Cooper and his family $565,000 in damages after finding one officer at fault for a falsified warrant and two others responsible for the illegal 2007 search.

The officer and his wife testified at the trial that their two young sons, Markee Jr., 13, and Zion, 8, were traumatized at seeing their father confront a roomful of cops with guns before kneeling to the living room floor and handing over his badge and weapon.

"It's a horrible experience for a child to see or even think about," Cooper's wife, Sherita, said after the verdict was announced. "I'm just glad that justice was served."

Many Cops have badges, guns, body armor, etc; but lack one essential piece of equipment, a brain.

Better to not do a search warrant then to rush in blindly and pay out of your pocket.

Citizens are gainst you and so are the courts and juries. Better be careful before doing search warrants. In the past the city paid the damages. Now they what a piece of flesh off of the cops also. Not worth it at all.

When you rely on unreliable sources you had better double and triple check you facts before sending in a swat team to do a search and seizure. Courts are taking a very dim view of this.

The bosses are going nuts about SWs. Numbers, numbers, numbers! This should be a lesson to everybody. You need to check out what John Doe is telling you. Have him do a buy when it's iffy.

Sean Dailey is an absolute idiot. He has been a piece is shit for years. He's a perfect example of what is wrong with this department. Hoping he reads this and realizes that everyone laughs at his sorry ass. What a stroke, and an embarrassment to the CPD.

Keep flipping hamburgers and stay away from police work.

It started in the 80's, MIAMI VICE shit.Leave NARCO to NARCO cops.just take care of the fucking savages on the street.

Started with cop shows that were totally unrealistic. Miami Vice, SWAT Team, etc. Before SWAT was aired how many cops wore combat boots to work? How many cops wore paramilitary garb to work? Now look around at the police force. See what they are wearing.

With the militarism of the police force how much has 'civilian' cooperation gone down?

Bad cops make life hard for good cops.
The lying pieces of shit cops should have paid ten times what the judge awarded. They got off easy. There is no excuse for lying on a no-knock warrant. That shit gets people killed in both sides of the blue line.
