A Chicago police sergeant fatally shoots an armed mad man in Downtown Chicago - LaSalle and Monroe streets
A Chicago police sergeant shot a man wielding a knife at the intersection of LaSalle and Monroe streets about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, police said.
The man was driving a black Nissan Maxima that rear-ended a silver car as they headed southbound down LaSalle, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Sgt. Al Stinites said.
The man got out of the car and tried to attack the driver of the other car. A private security officer stopped to check on the car accident, Stinites said, and the man stabbed her. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
