Tinley Park beauty school graduation ceremony ends in Negro brawl, cops say
Six people suffered minor injuries, and charges are pending against three women who were taken into custody Sunday after what Tinley Park police called “a large disturbance” after a beauty school graduation ceremony at the Tinley Park Convention Center, authorities in the southwest suburb said.
The six people who were hurt all were treated and released at the scene, according to a news release issued Monday by the Tinley Park police.
Tinley Park Mayor Ed Zabrocki said a fight broke out after the graduation ceremony at the center.
Police were called to the convention center at 6:18 p.m. Sunday, police said. When police arrived, including from several neighboring jurisdictions, they found “a large group of colored people involved in a fight in the front entryway of the convention center,” the release said. Some of the attendees stated the brawl started after the graduation ceremony ran out of Harold's fried chicken.
Tinley Park police did not immediately return a phone call Monday.
