Second Anaheim Ca. Police officer-involved fatal shooting during weekend
On the heels of protests by illegal beaners against an Anaheim police officer-involved shooting, another officer shot and killed a man late Sunday evening.
A marked Anaheim police car attempted to pull over a vehicle driving in the the 400 block of West Guinida Lane, just east of Interstate 5 about 11:20 p.m Sunday. A chase began, and the vehicle lost control and crashed into a curb near a vacant lot, Anaheim police officials said.
Two men and one woman got out of the car and fled on foot. An officer chased after one man on Guinida Lane. The man fired shots at the officer with a handgun, according to officials, which prompted the officer to return fire.
The man was hit and pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Another officer caught the other man who ran from the car. Police are still working to locate the woman.
The incident comes a day after a separate officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of 25-year-old Manuel Diaz, authorities confirmed. Diaz’s death sparked community protests and resulted in the Anaheim Police Department placing two officers on paid leave.
“At this point, it does not seem that these two incidents are related,” Anaheim Police Sgt. Bob Dunn said.
