Jasmine Jan Walker-Moorehead stole the baby shower cards from Shelomi Tennione-Hoff’s baby shower - Based on the names I say this is a colored thang
A Gary woman is accused of attending a friend’s baby shower — and then stealing $300 in gift cards.
Jasmine Jan Walker-Moorehead was a guest at Shelomi Tennione-Hoff’s baby shower June 16 in Merrillville, Ind., police said. Tennione-Hoff received several gift cards at the shower, placed them on a table and noticed they were missing when she was leaving.
Tennione-Hoff’s mother-in-law had bought some of the gift cards at a Target store and gave Tennione-Hoff the receipt. A Target employee tracked down the serial number for the gift cards and found they were used in three purchases totaling $228.10 on the day of the shower, police said.
Tennione-Hoff and her husband identified Walker-Moorehead on a surveillance video the store provided to police, authorities said. Tennione-Hoff and her husband said they’ve known Walker-Moorehead for years, having met her at church.
Walker-Moorehead — who was arrested at work — admitted taking five LINK cards worth $300 and making the purchases, said she was embarrassed by what she’d done and wants to make restitution to the family, police said.
Walker-Moorehead also told investigators she also had stolen gift cards for Babies R Us and the Children’s Place that she hadn’t yet used because she only knew how to use a LINK Card.
