Thanks to Quinn & Madigan - Illinois 3rd-worst in nation for business, CEO survey says
Illinois is the third worst state in the nation to do business, according to a national survey of CEOs released Wednesday. The state held on to 48th on the dubious list, which is published annually by Chief Executive magazine.
Only New York and California did worse than Illinois in the eighth annual survey of the Best and Worst States in which to do business, which asked 650 business leaders to grade states in a variety of areas including taxes, workforce and environment.
Texas was ranked the best state for business for the eighth consecutive year, followed by Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Indiana. Most of the top 20 states are also right-to-work states, a key factor in their attractiveness to CEOs, according to the survey.
