A former Woodridge police officer who pleaded guilty to stealing money earmarked for the families of fallen officers was sentenced Thursday to two years of probation.
Scott Webb, 40, formerly of Romeoville, agreed to make more than $30,000 in restitution to Illinois Concerns of Police Survivors. According to authorities, Webb organized pub crawls for the charity and stole the proceeds from two of the events.
DuPage County prosecutors asked for a six-year sentence for Webb, who spent five months as a fugitive before he was apprehended in October. But Judge Kathryn Creswell said that aside from the theft, Webb had led an exemplary life.
