When an Aurora woman got word that her cousin’s teenage daughters had become involved in a fist-fight, she abandoned the dinner she was cooking, got into her minivan and drove to the west side of the city.
There, authorities said, she chased and then opened fire on the teens’ adversaries.
Anieka D. Johnson, 34, of the 200 block of North Oakhurst Avenue, was found guilty Thursday of aggravated battery and a weapons charge for the 2010 shooting incident in which a 13-year-old girl suffered a bullet graze wound.
The Kane County jury that heard her case acquitted her on a count of attempted murder, the most serious charge she faced.
Johnson was arrested following the shooting incident and a car chase that happened about 5 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2010.
