Suspect 'John Doe' tried to escape arrest by pretending to be asleep
After ditching an allegedly stolen minivan and running from police, a Chicago Negro tried to avoid arrest by diving through the open front window of his home, running to a bedroom and pretending to be asleep, authorities said.
The officer was unconvinced, and the 27-year-old man was arrested Friday night and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle, obstruction and various traffic offenses.
But officers said feigning sleep was not his final attempt to stymie the police. Charging documents accuse him of refusing to identify himself during his arrest, and he was addressed in Cook County court Sunday as “John Doe” before Judge Laura Marie Sullivan ordered him held on $15,000 bond
