Lawsuit: Mt. Greenwood parish altar boy claims he was buggered by Fr. John Curran in 1980s

A man who served as an altar boy at a Mount Greenwood Roman Catholic parish claims in a lawsuit filed today that he was molested by a priest in the 1980s.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of a plaintiff listed as “John Doe,” claims that Fr. John Curran, a priest who served at St. Christina’s Church, 11005 S. Homan Ave., lured young boys to his room in the church rectory and molested them, and that church leaders were aware of the abuse and did nothing to remove Curran from his post or keep him away from children.

Happened in the 1980's.

Not remembered until 2011.

Who's the plaintiff? What kind of guy is he? Does he have money, drug, or gambling problems? Lots of unanswered questions here.

Please Shaved, the term is "buggered" not "boogered".

Unless of course, you mean that the priest is accused of picking his nose, rolling the semi-dried mucous into a ball and flicking it upon his victim.

Please use the appropriate term.

Thank you.

"Fr." John Curran was my Gregorian Chant teacher at Quigley South in the 60s. He acted strange, but so did a number of the other priests. It doesn't suprise me one bit.
I am still waiting for the archdiocese of Chicago to contact me and ask if I am alright or was molested. My class had a great number of perverts that were exposed over the years.

Maybe it was too traumatic to say anything up until now. I know people who were messed up by this priest.

Any relation to Sheriff Curran??

Old news. The good Father would also buy beer take the young guys out for steak dinners.

Thank you Shaved for correcting the title of this post. You have proved once again that you are trainable.

Actually the term in the "ghetto" is boogered. Remember, even though they are "Duke's", doesn't mean they speak the Queens English. Proper use by the street savvy Detective.

As for Fr. Curran. We used to play basketball in the parking lot at Christina.(1990-1991) Fr Curran used to watch us and when we took breaks he would engage us in conversation.

Pleasant enough fellow until he brought up the conversation about jerking off. We tried to change the subject but he persisted. My exact response was, "Dude, your weird", and we all got up and left.(I know dude! dumb statement to make but I was 15)

I'm not saying he's guilty, but I would not be surprised.

They never molested me, but my priests damaged me emotionally. They told me I was going to go to hell because I played with my weiner and had sex with girls I was not married to. Even got a couple of blowjobs after CYO. Maybe I can file a lawsuit, too.

Thirty years of molestations in Mt. Greenwood and only one complaint. He must be a tourist from Hegewisch.

May father Curran rot in hell.

Im sick of the cases where the shit comes out thirty years later. Father Curran is dead and he can not defend himself from attacks. I guess he needed money maybe as the Archdiosesce appears to hand out money.

Does being paddled with a wooden paddle, on the ass in front of the entire male class while in catholic high school count?

The boys molested by Curran where the same boys who got all the weddings and funerals as altar boys. You could make a pretty good penny as a kid that way. These little pixies are double dipping.

"An Archdiocese of Chicago registry lists Curran among priests against whom there are “substantiated claims” of abuse. The registry also shows Curran died in March 2000.

In 2005, the archdiocese settled lawsuits filed by 24 parishioners who claimed they were abused as children by 14 priests, including Curran."
