LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL -Lauderdale County authorities have located the missing Shoals woman on County Road 89. Investigators say 29-year-old Ashley Sterry had been missing since early Thursday morning.
Her mother contacted the police and they found her at her home Friday afternoon. Sterry was found alive and was rushed to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Investigators say they are still waiting to talk with Sterry.
Sterry told police she was kidnapped and dropped off at her home by people in a white town car. Police are working to locate a white vehicle that could be connected to the case.
Different news sources have her named spelled differently - Ashleigh Sterry, Ashleigh Sterry and Ashley Sterry Missing or kidnapped.
FLORENCE, Ala. (WAAY-TV) - Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis says his deputies are looking into a kidnapping case.
Willis tells WAAY 31 that they received a call early Thursday morning from the family of 30 year old Ashely Sterry. Family members said that her mom received numerous texts from her claiming she'd been kidnapped. The mother received one text that said that she was being held in a block building. When they tried to contact her, her phone had been turned off and investigators were unable to get a signal from her phone.
Investigators have been out along State Road 64 and County Road 89 looking for clues and leads in connection with the incident.
Willis said that investigators located Sterry's car with the keys inside parked in the driveway of her home on County Road 89 near the Tennessee state line.
Investigators believe that Sterry could be in danger. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department at (256) 760-5757.
