Colored men posing as Chicago cops robbing WEST LOOP RESIDENTS (Greek Town Area)
Chicago - Police are warning West Loop residents about a series of armed robberies in which the suspects pretended to be police officers or security guards.
Two men pretend to be police officers or security guards when they approach people walking or sitting in vehicles, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives. The robbers imply or show a gun, and rob the victims.
The first robbery happened about 2:15 a.m. Jan. 27 in the 200 block of North Green Street, police said. The second happened about 1:25 a.m. April 1 in the 900 block of West Randolph; and the third at 12:33 a.m. April 10 in the 1100 block of West Randolph.
The suspects are described as black men between 35 and 45, the alert said. They are between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet, and weight 200-250 pounds, police said.
