WHO DO YOU THINK THIS STATUE LOOKS LIKE?
An Arizona man's decision to place a statue of an obese naked woman outside his home has miffed some neighbors who say it's in full view of a pre-school and a church.
Tempe contractor Bill Tonnesen told local station KNXV television that the big-boned sculpture was supposed to resemble an ancient artwork known as the Venus of Willendorf.
"I love it," Tonnesen said. "I'm crazy about it."
But Tonnesen's neighbor say they want the hefty figure to hit the bricks because it might scare little children and offend churchgoers.
"I think the placement of it makes it an issue," neighbor Michael White told KNXV. "To have [the statue] on the side of the street in such open viewing space is a topic of concern."
Tonneson said the city recently gave him the okay place the statue wherever he wants, and he wishes his neighbors could see it as a work of art, and not just a nude woman.
His neighbors aren't alone — Torrenson said his wife doesn't like the statue's placement and made him cover with a sheet.
"Until I can work something out with my wife, we're going to leave it covered," he told KNXV.
