Truly something that never should have happened... $6 million settlement in train death of dance teacher Katie Lunn

A $6 million settlement has been reached in the death of a Chicago dance instructor, who was killed by a train at an inoperative rail crossing in University Park about two years ago. The settlement was reached with Illinois Central Railroad on the first day of the civil trial, according to the lawfirm of Corboy and Demeterio, who represented Lunn's family.

You don't allow yourself to get trapped on the tracks by paying attention. Of course, you could be forced to stop unexpectedly so then anyone with any sense watches for approaching trains no matter if the signal is not activated because you are aware you have STOPPED ON THE TRACKS! Dumb way to go but stuff happens.
