Johnny Veal Clemency Hearing - Who brutally murdered Chicago Police Officer Anthony Rizzato and Chicago Police Sergeant James Severin
Johnny Veal Clemency Hearing
Long before many of our members were Police Officers, Johnny Veal brutally murdered Chicago Police Officer Anthony Rizzato and Chicago Police Sergeant James Severin while they were working in the Cabrini Green Public Housing complex. Veal was subsequently tried and found guilty of the July 17, 1970 murders. He was subsequently sentenced to serve 100 - 199 years in prison.
Veal has filed a petition for executive clemency. A hearing will be held on April 10, 2012, at the Illinois State Building, 100 West Randolph, Room 09-040, Chicago, Illinois. Sign in is at 9:00 a.m.
In addition to reviewing the petition for executive clemency and our response, the Prisoner Review Board will allow live testimony from both petitioner and witnesses who oppose the petition. Written responses to the petition will also be accepted and reviewed.
