Chicago Police Officer Shot - 005th District
A Chicago police officer who was shot late this afternoon on the city's Far South Side is recovering and his wound does not appear to be life threatening, according to the fire department.
The shooting happened at 4:50 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.
Paramedics responded to 129 W. 103rd Pl. and took the officer to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was "stable,'' according to the Chicago Fire Department.
A fire department spokesman said the officer's wound did not appear to be life-threatening.
