CHICAGO - One Murdered, one shot & wounded in shooting outside North Side club
One person was killed and another critically wounded in a shootout outside a North Side nightclub early this morning, one of a group of overnight shootings in Chicago that left two people dead and six wounded.
The shooting outside the Krush nightclub, 1675 N. Elston Ave., happened about 3:00 a.m., police said. It's not clear what prompted the shooting, though police are investigating whether it may have followed a dispute inside the club.
A 25-year-old man was sitting in the driver seat of a car with one or two other people when someone walked up and started shooting, authorities said. He was identified at Asif Memon of the 4800 block of North Winthrop Avenue, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office. Memon was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, he said.
A second person was shot five times, authorities said, but it's not known if he was in the car or standing nearby. His age wasn't available but he's in critical condition at Illinois Masonic.
Another man in the car when the shooting started got out and chased the shooter toward the intersection of Elston Avenue and Wabansia Avenue, where the two exchanged gunfire, police said. Neither was hit in the gunfire, and they both fled the scene.
No one answered on the club's telephone number.
Saturday night, a 17-year-old boy died after being shot about 8 p.m. on the 3400 block of Monticello Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood.Police responded to a shots fired call on Monticello and learned the boy had been dropped off at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, where he died, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
A dark-colored car left after leaving the boy at the hospital, police said.
CHICAGO - 1 Murdered, 1 shot & critically wounded in separate West Side shootings
A man was shot dead and another was critically wounded within minutes of each other in separate shootings late this afternoon on the city's West Side.
About 5:43 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot on the 3000 block of West 25th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Police News Affairs Officer Dan O'Brien. As of 6:15 p.m., the Cook County medical examiner's office was not notified of the death.
About 5:41 p.m., another man, described as being in his 30s, was critically wounded in a shooting near Pulaski Road and Lexington Avenue. He was shot in the abdomen, O'Brien said.
CHICAGO - 2 Murdered, 5 shot & wounded in shooting at South Side colored liquor store
Two people are dead and five others were wounded Sunday night in an apparent drive-by shooting outside a liquor store on the South Side, officials said.
The shooting happened about 6:46 p.m. near or in a store located on the 2500 block of East 79th Street, police said.
One victim, an 19-year-old man, was dead inside the store, while a second man, 62, was dead outside, authorities said.
Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
The five survivors were boys ranging from 13 to 16 years old, police said, citing early reports.
CHICAGO - 2 Murdered, 1 shot & wounded in separate Back of the Yards shootings
Two men were fatally shot and another wounded in separate shootings this afternoon and evening on the South Side in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood.
The latest shooting happened about 6:26 p.m. on the 5300 block of South Hoyne Avenue, police said. The victim, described as a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 22-year-old man was fatally wounded about 12:30 p.m. on the 1700 block of West 51st Street, said Police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.
A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said they were notified of a fatal shooting on 51st Street but had no additional information.
About 4:30 p.m., a 37-year-old man was shot in his hand on the 5100 block of South Hermitage Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Dan O'Brien.
