Boy charged, 1 sought after shots fired during altercation with police on NW Side


Chicago police arrested a boy and are searching for another this afternoon on the Northwest Side after they were involved in an altercation with officers in which shots were fired, police said.

The incident began about 7:40 p.m. in the alley behind the 5300 block of North Natoma Avenue, police said. The two were being questioned by police, and according to preliminary reports, shots were fired by police after a gun was pointed at police. No one was hit, said Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti of Chicago Police Department News Affairs.

A police officer was taken to Resurrection Medical Center with a hand injury, said Chicago Fire Department Chief Joseph Roccasalva. The officer was in good condition. It's not clear how he was injured.
