4 people, including 2 cops, hurt in suburban crash

At least four people, including two Niles police officers, were hospitalized following a crash in the north suburb Monday night.

The officers weren't on their way to a call and were stopped at a stop sign at Washington Street and Churchill Road when two other vehicles collided in the intersection, said Niles Police Sgt. Ron Brandt.

The two cars were then "pushed into" the front driver's side of the squad car.

Brandt said it was not immediately clear what direction the two vehicles were traveling when they crashed about 9:20 p.m.

Two officers in their squad and "at least two" people from one of other cars were injured. They all were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Medical Center in Park Ridge and none of the injuries were considered life threatening, the sergeant said.
