27 year veteran San Diego Police Sergeant Kevin Friedman accused of fixing tickets resigns

A San Diego police sergeant facing charges of ticket-fixing has resigned, the Police Department said Wednesday.

Kevin Friedman, a supervisor in the traffic division, was a 27-year veteran of the department.

Friedman and Deputy Dist. Atty. Allison Debow face misdemeanor charges of fixing two tickets. A hearing is set in San Diego County Superior Court on March 7.

Debow is on paid administrative leave, according to the district attorney's office.

Debow allegedly asked Friedman to destroy seat-belt tickets issued by a San Diego police officer to Debow and Deputy Dist. Atty. Amy Maund. Maund was unaware that Debow made the request, according to prosecutors.

What BS!!! I don't know how many times I wrote tickets to people and either the sergeant came up to at the end of the tour and asked for the tickets. And they were never seen again. Whatever he did he cleared with the citation clerk. They never made it into the court system either.

Ticket fixing goes on everywhere. What gets their panties in a bunch is when the lower-end functionaries (like line police officers) initiate the process.
It is a favor for the higher ups, not the lowly peons.

And there you have it. We put up with high levels of corruption here. Sorry you had to resign Sarge, but you should have known better!

What the fuck is this world coming to? I guess you just have to tell people "sorry, we don't do that" and be on your way.

If San Diego is this tough on tickets, I hope they don't review the polling statistics on Obama's huge win there in 2008.

A ticket fix would never happen in chicago!

What's with CA, do they let you keep your pension even if convicted of a felony on duty?

Doesn't make sense. The Deputy Dist. Atty., Allison Debow, asks the Officer, Friedman, to destroy the tickets? Should be the other way around, No?

This jerk illegally pulled me over for no reason back in 08. It was after 2:00 am, since I was sober and didn't commit a moving violation, he didnt write a ticket. He was a totally rude jerk the whole time. I considered filing a complaint, but didn't want to be hassled by this jerk and his rotten corrupt friends every time I went to work. I was so happy to see that it was the same rotten pig. A police officers job is to uphold the constitution, not rip it apart.

This is regarding a case that is going to federal court on April 2, 2012. Against the San Diego Police Department East Village Division - Team 8 Narcotics these officers have been involved in illegal search and seizures, falsifying police reports, planting false evidence against defendants in order to make their cases stick. This corruption has been hidden and/or covered up by the San Diego Police Department. The Captain in charge of the division is: Captain Chris Ball who is trying to keep this under wraps and not let the media find out...the other names of team 8 officers are: Sgt. Willliam T.Griffin,Off. Matthew Botkin,Off. Matthew Zdunich,Off. Pia Iverson, Off. Luke Johnson,Off. Simon Adams
and that is just the tip of the ice berg there are many more of them. These officers need to be exposed for the illegal misconduct, if you know of any misconduct file complaints and let the federal government US Dept of Justice; Civil Rights Division fight for you and your rights as a citizen, people know your rights speak out and let the community, let the GOVERNMENT know what is going on. Don't allow the corruption to continue let's stand for what is right and STOP THE CORRUPTION OF THE SAN DIEGO POLICE GO TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND FILE A COMPLAINTS THEY HAVE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!

You sad sack of shit. You are our employees, you don't get to grant yourself and your fucking DA buddies a pass from the law. No matter how many years this chickenshit asshole has been fucking SD citizens in the ass. Every cop should have a mandatory year sentence in prison for every misdemeanor violation, that should keep you fucking assholes in check. Remember fuckface, your not the boss, not even your chickenshit seargeant is the boss; but, the public is who you are obligted by oath to PROTECT, not opress and harass.
