Ok... enough with the music videos I have picked, most from the 70's and 80's - Here is a clip that was sent to me.

Can somebody post in the comment section, which recent Charlie's Angels movie this was from? I haven't seen any of them but I would like to see this one now.

I do have to say that these three do beat Karen Carpenter hands down!

Police review group investigates South Side shooting

FAMILY CLAIMS THAT POLICE SHOT HIM AFTER HANDCUFFING HIM - And the newspapers actual printed it.

Relatives and friends Saturday brought balloons, prayer candles and a bottle of tequila to mark the South Shore sidewalk where Pierre Ambrose was shot to death by Chicago police a day earlier.

The 25-year-old, who family members said was an art student and father of two young children, died in an incident that has rattled the neighborhood.

Police and Ambrose's family members agree on two things: Ambrose was carrying a gun and driving a van on the South Side about 2:20 p.m. Friday.

An uncle, Larry Boswell, Ambrose's paternal uncle, said Ambrose had been driving around with two friends in search of another group of men.

"They got into it with some guy," Boswell said. "It was a fight over a woman."

Boswell said Ambrose had been carrying a gun. Police said a loaded revolver was recovered from the scene. That's where the stories diverge.

Police said trouble began when officers spotted a van headed north on a one-way southbound street, South Ridgeland Avenue. They said a tactical unit squad car with three officers inside was driving southbound on Ridgeland when the van clipped it.

The squad car turned on its siren and lights emergency equipment and followed the van into an alley near East 67th Street and Cornell Avenue, when police said the van's driver put the vehicle went in reverse and struck the squad car's front end.

Police said the three men fled from the van and Ambrose pointed a gun at officers. All three officers then opened fire on Ambrose, who later was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

Family members said Ambrose never pointed a gun at officers and dropped the weapon immediately after exiting the van. Relatives said Ambrose was shot repeatedly, even after he was handcuffed and lying on the sidewalk.

Ambrose's mother, Pearline Ambrose, told WGN-TV Friday that she saw her son shot from her window. "The police stood over my son and they shot him twice," she said. "I asked myself 'Why are they still shooting him? He's on the ground.'"

The Cook County medical examiner's office said Saturday that Ambrose died from of "multiple gunshot wounds."

Police declined to comment, referring questions to the Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates shootings involving Chicago police officers. Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood, in search of witnesses, said agency spokesman Mark Payne.

He urged anyone with information to call 312-745-3609.

Mourners poured into the family's apartment Saturday, just a flight up from the scene of the shooting. Some carried trays of food.

The sound of loud sobbing filled the stairwell.

Well at least we know one thing, the deceased knew how to breed children on welfare. So now the police are handcuffing people then shooting them? Amazing! I have to try that myself. Sounds like a nice way to hold the guy in place. What a fucking joke. And the newspapers run with it too. And this is what we have to put up with when jagoffs like him grab a gun and run out on the streets to do a shooting. A pack of lies for defending the citizens of this city. Unreal.

4 arrested after cop is punched, fleeing vehicle rolls over on Ike expressway

Chicago, IL - Four people were arrested early Saturday after they fled a Near West Side disturbance and crashed in a rollover on the Eisenhower Expressway, police said.
Officers responded to the disturbance in the 800 block of West Randolph Street about 1:15 a.m. and tried to make an arrest, according to preliminary information.
An offender then struck one of the officers in the face and fled the scene, eventually taking off in a vehicle with several other people, police said in a news alert.
The offenders' vehicle rolled over at the Oakley Boulevard underpass of the Eisenhower Expressway, and a foot chase ensued until four people were taken into custody, according to police.
The police officer who was hit in the face was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition and one of the offenders was taken to a hospital, also in good condition, authorities said.
No further information was immediately available.

Cops, medical examiner spar over cause of death

Steger, IL - The Cook County medical examiner's office and a south suburban Chicago police department are at odds over the death of a 90-year-old man found tethered to a chair in his home.
The medical examiner's office has ruled Joseph Basile's death last week was a homicide.
He died four days after a neighbor found him seriously ill and tied to a recliner with duct tape and a dog leash. The medical examiner's office has listed the causes of death as dehydration and elder abuse.
But Steger police Chief Richard Stultz says Basile died of natural causes. He describes Basile's family as "loving" and not abusive.
Stultz says Basile had cancer and dementia and that family members restrained him for his own protection.
No charges have been filed.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

Sounds like this police chief wants one less homicide in his town! If the family was loving or not...that shouldn't change the findings of the medical examiner's report. And just because the M.E. declares it a homicide, it doesn't mean any charges have to be filed. I can understand the frustrations of a family having a 90 year old crazy relative who likes to wander off. But duct taping him to a lazy boy chair and the use of a dog leash... well last time I checked, that wasn't proper medical protocol. But then again my dad use to say, Duct tape fixes everything.

From Chicago's Ripley's Believe it or not files - Teen slain at party was brother of murder victim

Two weeks after his younger brother was slain in a triple homicide, police and school officials said today a South Side teen was fatally shot in the back after a quarrel at a party late Friday.

Carnell Pitts, 18, died after the shooting outside a home in the 3200 block of East 92nd Street about 11:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago, police said.

A Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman confirmed Pitts was the brother of Kendrick Pitts, a 17-year-old shot to death with two friends at 87th Street and South Exchange Avenue on Feb. 20 in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Both teens lived in the 9600 block of South Hoxie Avenue. Their father, Juan Pitts, declined to comment Saturday.

It was a good act by Jody Weis but the show is over - Facing contempt, top cop says he's handed over list of officers

Chicago, IL - After being found in contempt of court by a federal judge, Police Supt. Jody Weis said today he has handed over a list of officers who have repeatedly been accused of misconduct.

Earlier this U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman ordered Weis to appear in court Monday to explain why he has continued to defy the order.

"We have the chief law-enforcement officer of the City of Chicago basically picking and choosing the orders of the federal court that he will obey or disobey, and he's chosen to disobey this order," a transcript quoted Gettleman as saying.

Attorneys for Donna Moore, custodian of two minor children who claim they were beaten by an off-duty detective in 2007, have requested the city's list of "repeat officers," those accused more than five times of misconduct and all those accused of excessive force. Some officers have been accused as many as 65 times, including allegations of excessive force more than 20 times, said Flint Taylor, attorney for the plaintiffs.

Weis said he still disagrees with the judge's decision but feels he must comply. He plans to appear before the judge Monday morning.

Taylor said he was "pleased that Jody Weis and the city have chosen to purge themselves of their contemptuous conduct."

But he added: "It does not excuse their bad faith delay and obstruction over the past eight months and we trust that Judge Gettleman will impose sanctions against the city and Supt. Weis.

"Furthermore, Weis' decision to turn over the lists constitutes an admission that his position from the beginning was indefensible and we look forward to questioning him about the reasons for his contemptuous conduct."

Officer searching UIC accidentally discharges gun

A police officer for the University of Illinois at Chicago accidentally discharged his weapon while responding to a report of possible gunfire on the campus this afternoon, but no injuries were reported.
"While responding, the officer drew his gun and accidentally discharged the weapon into the ground," said UIC spokesman Mark Rosati.
The search sparked by the initial report of gunfire continued late into the afternoon, but Rosati said no evidence of gunshots has been found. The report of "gunfire noise" near the Student Services Building at West Harrison Street and South Racine Avenue came in around 2:40 p.m.

"The ongoing search turned up no physical evidence of a gunshot in the building," Rosati said. "No gun was found....no shell casings....no injured people."
Police were searching the Student Services Building room by room, and they were also searching the Education, Performing Arts and Social Work building just to the east of it, Rosati said.
As many as 250 students were evacuated from the student services building. He said no other campus buildings were evacuated.
Some students complained on the Tribune Web site that they were not given adequate notice of the possible gunfire, even though UIC posted an alert on the school's Web site.

Rosati said the university decided not to also issue a warning over the SMS alert system, which would have sent text messages to students' cell phones.
"We decided not to because the police response was immediate and there was no evidence of gunfire," Rosati said.
He said the SMS system is meant to be used for "imminent threats," including a shooting as well as severe weather or toxic spills.

From today's Chicago Sun-Times - One Chicago cop fired, another suspended

Chicago, IL - Two Chicago cops have been disciplined, one for secretly boosting the number of his arrests and citations in the department's database and a second for shoving a Lincoln Towing employee during a dispute over a towed car, according to documents.

Fifteen-year officer John Dellorto was fired for using other officers' computer log-on information to increase the number of his arrests, citations and awards, according to the Chicago Police Board.

A commander found the discrepancy after reviewing district arrests and finding that Dellorto -- assigned to the lockup -- had an increase in arrests, according to transcripts from his hearing.

Tom Needham, Dellorto's attorney, said no police cases were jeopardized, no member of the public was hurt and the officer apologized after accepting he'd made a "terrible and foolish mistake,'' according to the transcripts. Dellorto had 38 honorable mentions with the department.

In the second case, 10-year officer Linda Brumfield -- who has filed a non-related federal suit against the city over her treatment in the department -- was suspended for six months after she was found guilty of several charges, including shoving a Lincoln Towing employee in a July 2007 dispute over towing fees.

Brumfield, who has 20 honorable mentions, acknowledges she got into the dispute, but said towing employees taunted her, and the department retaliated against her because of the lawsuit.

But one thing you have to remember when you go there, it's all on video tape. They have surveillance cameras all over the place. Lincoln Towing use to tow marked and unmarked squad cars from private parking spots and lots and refuse to give them back. They are ASSHOLES! But don't lose your job over these assholes. One day this mobbed up and connected tow firm will get what is coming to them, I firmly believe that.

You got to be kidding - Not here in Chicago!!! Witness: Daley backers rewarded with jobs

CITY HALL HIRING TRIAL | Sanchez defense tries to downplay his clout

A federal prosecutor drew a direct connection between illicit political hiring and Mayor Daley in a City Hall corruption trial Thursday, asking a key witness whether city hirees were also the mayor's most loyal and hardest-working political supporters.

Former Streets and Sanitation Department personnel director Jack Drumgould agreed that they were, testifying in the trial of former Commissioner Al Sanchez.

Drumgould testified that those who supported the mayor in political campaigns were rewarded with jobs. Among the hardest-working and most loyal of those groups was the Hispanic Democratic Organization, which Sanchez helped lead.

"If Mayor Daley were not reelected, isn't it true that Mr. Sanchez would probably lose his job?" Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Ruder asked.

"Probably," Drumgould said.

Drumgould, who worked under Sanchez and testified with a grant of immunity, told a jury that test scores for coveted jobs were routinely falsified and interviews were rigged so the jobs went to politically ordained candidates. He said hundreds of applicants jockeyed for a job, but the fix was in -- Sanchez allegedly wrote names of people he wanted, which were delivered to the mayor's patronage office. Those people were usually hired, he said. But Sanchez's lawyer, Thomas Breen, downplayed his clout, portraying him as an advocate for hardworking Hispanics.

Prosecutors objected when Breen asked if the best jobs, with the Department of Aviation, went to the "whitest, cloutiest people."

"Al was in charge of streets, sanitation and rats -- isn't that the truth?" Breen said, raising his voice.

Breen pointed to the electricity bureau in Streets and San, which Drumgould agreed was dubbed "Madigan Electricity" because it was perceived as House Speaker Michael Madigan's patronage arm.

Drumgould agreed Sanchez didn't have the final say in hiring applicants -- that rested with the Intergovernmental Affairs Office.

As Sanchez stood trial, a federal hiring monitor Thursday filed a report sharply critical of the Daley administration's efforts to implement a hiring system free of politics.

Immunity deal offered in Peterson case

BOLINGBROOK -- Details have emerged about prosecutors' offer of a free pass to the man who may have unwittingly acted as Drew Peterson's accomplice in allegedly disposing of his wife's body, so long as he sticks to the truth, his original statement and did not play a part in actually killing the missing woman.

The Herald News has obtained a copy of the immunity deal inked by State's Attorney James Glasgow for Thomas Morphey in exchange for his testimony. Glasgow signed the immunity agreement more than 17 months ago, yet sources say Morphey has never appeared before the grand jury investigating the disappearance of Peterson's wife, Stacy Peterson.

Glasgow made the agreement offer on Halloween 2007, three days after Stacy, who is Peterson's fourth wife, was last seen alive and likely while Morphey was still hospitalized following an Oct. 29 suicide attempt.

Morphey overdosed on sleeping pills after he learned Stacy vanished and he feared he may have something to do with her disappearance, sources said. Morphey's suspicions were based on his helping Peterson carry a blue barrel out of his stepbrother's bedroom, down the stairs, outside to the driveway and into the back of his waiting Yukon Denali the night of Oct. 28, sources said.

Not only that, police sources allege Morphey assisted Peterson in a scheme to set cell phone towers pinging near the home of her friend Scott Rossetto, a male nurse living in Shorewood. The sources said they suspected Peterson was trying to frame Rossetto for doing away with Stacy.

Peterson is believed to have left his cell phone with Morphey in Bolingbrook, then went to Shorewood with Stacy's cell phone. Peterson is alleged to have called his own cell with Stacy's from Shorewood to leave a record of the call, sources said.

After Morphey was released from Edward Hospital in Naperville, where Peterson says he paid his stepbrother a visit, he vanished from his Bolingbrook home. His girlfriend, Sheryl Alcox, said at the time that Morphey was in "therapy." Peterson has repeatedly said the authorities put Morphey, who has struggled with substance abuse, someplace to "dry out."

Morphey is back in his Thistle Drive home and has been for months. He declined to discuss his immunity agreement -- or anything else relating to the Peterson case -- on the record.

Immunity deal
The immunity agreement signed by Glasgow is contingent on Morphey making a "full, truthful and complete statement of all information he has concerning the disappearance of Stacy Peterson and the activities of himself and Drew Peterson immediately prior to and including the weekend of October 27th, 2007. Thomas Morphey will also testify consistently with his statement and truthfully in any future court proceedings relating to the disappearance of Stacy Peterson."
But if Morphey gets caught lying or holding back on his story regarding his "information and knowledge of the kidnapping or murder of Stacy Peterson, or if any evidence emerges indicating that Thomas Morphey personally participated in the murder of Stacy Peterson, this agreement shall be null and void."

Peterson laughed when told of the immunity offer for his stepbrother and said, "Un (expletive) believable." He would not elaborate.

Charles B. Pelkie, the spokesman for the state's attorney's office, declined to comment on Morphey's immunity deal.

Peterson is the sole suspect in the state police investigation of Stacy's disappearance. State police Capt. Carl Dobrich called the young woman's disappearance a "potential homicide."

The state police also are investigating the 2004 homicide of Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found drowned in a dry bathtub.

State police originally failed to find anything suspicious about Savio's case when they first investigated it and her death was eventually ruled accidental. Soon after Stacy disappeared, authorities determined Savio was the victim of a homicide and the state police give them another chance at figuring out who killed her.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

From previous news reports, the Illinois State and Bolingbrook police have subpoenaed and brought hundreds upon hundreds of people so far to the Grand Jury investigating the alleged "murder" of wife #3 and the disappearance of wife #4.

As for the alleged murder of wife #3, there was no direct evidence that wife #3 was murder. The authorities and a outside FOX News pathologist was going to call it a murder from the moment they decided to dig her up and do a autopsy over 6 years later. After the second autopsy, they called it a murder even though it didn't reveal anything different from the first autopsy. No smoking gun, no new evidence and no signs of any injury or injuries that were inflicted on wife three that would of been either life threatening or fatal.

NOW BEFORE EVERYBODY STARTS COMMENTING THAT I AM PROTECTION DREW PETERSON, please understand, I am talking about the facts and evidence of the case and not what we all suspect and feel. As of right now there is no known evidence that proves wife three was killed and had she been killed that Drew Peterson had any connection to it. As for wife 4, Stacey Peterson, being missing, without a crime scene that contains evidence revealing Stacey was killed or the body itself, it would be a major mistake for any law enforcement agency to charge Drew Peterson with murder. Because without that evidence or a full confession, he will win the case and be free for life.

Police search for gunman who killed 4 children, woman in home on Cleveland's west side

CLEVELAND (AP) — Police were searching early Friday for a man suspected in the slayings of four children and his wife in what authorities were calling one of the city's most horrific shootings in years.

The children, aged 3 to 14, were found Thursday night in various rooms of a two-family home on Cleveland's west side, police said. A fifth child was wounded and being treated at MetroHealth Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Susan Christopher told The Plain Dealer.

"It's probably one of the worst multiple shootings that I've seen in a long time," said Police Chief Michael McGrath. "I've seen a lot of previous ones, but this ranks right up there at the top."

Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said the suspect being sought was married to the adult victim. A police helicopter assisted in the search and authorities were checking transit system buses.

"He's a danger to the community, so we're putting the pressure on to locate him," McGrath said. "The ideal thing is for this guy to turn himself in."

Police said there were two rental units in the house, and all the victims were killed in the upstairs apartment, where they lived. The building is on a tree-lined street of older, mostly two-story frame houses and some apartment buildings.

"This is bad. I mean, anytime you shoot children, it's bad," McGrath said. "When children have to die, it's terrible.

"This gentleman is responsible for several children being murdered, pure and simple. It's tough for anybody to see this."

Outside the home Thursday night, a man at a police blockade said he recognized the suspect in a police photo shown on television as the man who recently married his daughter. He said she lived on the street with her three children and with another of his daughters and that woman's twins.

"They told me both my daughters and my grandchildren are dead," said the man, Lamar Arnold, although it was not clear who had told him. "I don't want to talk about it; I just want to go to my grandson now. I want to see how he is, and that's all I care about now."

He said his newly married daughter had sent him an unusual cell phone text message at 7:47 p.m. saying "Call me, live your life, love it."

"Then I tried to call her about 12 times, and there never was an answer," he said.

Authorities did not release the identities of the victims or whether the man's family had died. Cuyahoga County coroner's spokesman Powell Caesar said the names of the victims would not be available right away.

Messages seeking further details about the suspect and victims were left for Lt. Thomas Stacho, police spokesman.

Other people milled around near the house where the shootings occurred, some who were curious and some who claimed to be family and friends of those killed.

A man who answered the phone at the address cursed and hung up. A woman at a nearby convenience store was overhead by The Plain Dealer sobbing into a cell phone, "My sister's dead. My sister's dead. They are all dead."

Shortly after midnight, about four hours after the shootings, several women whom police had let into the cordoned-off area came back in tears, got into a car and left. Another woman walked away from the scene.

Another one of Pres. Obama's cabinet picks bows out

CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta withdraws as surgeon general candidate
Medical reporter says he wants to focus on family and practicing medicine
WASHINGTON DC — CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta withdrew from consideration to be the next surgeon general Thursday, with CNN and Obama Administration officials attributing his decision to personal considerations amid a campaign by some liberal interest groups to block his selection.

Gupta, a neurosurgeon, said in an interview with CNN's Larry King that he withdrew so that he could spend more time with his family, continue to practice medicine and work as a journalist. Administration officials cited the same reasons.

"Sanjay Gupta was under serious consideration for the job of surgeon general. He has removed himself from consideration to focus more on his medical career and his family," said an Obama Administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Obama officials disclosed two months ago that Gupta was the president's top choice for the post, a selection that would have put a well-known medical broadcaster in a job that is in many ways the public face of medicine in the United States.

But Gupta's selection quickly aroused opposition. Some groups cited his critical reporting on government-run health-care systems. And some liberal physicians raised the possibility of conflict of interest because Gupta had participated in TV programming on a health channel for doctors' offices. The programming was partly underwritten by drug companies.

After Gupta was named as a surgeon general candidate, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), a universal health care advocate, campaigned to mobilize opposition in Congress.

Conyers, who supports a government-centered health-care system, argued that Gupta's past criticism of such an approach meant he would not be vigorous enough in advocating for the poor and disadvantaged.

For several years, Gupta has been the co-anchor of a health care show distributed monthly for broadcast on special flat screen TVs provided free to medical waiting rooms. The show is sponsored by health care, consumer and pharmaceutical companies, who want to get their message directly to patients, according to the Web site of AccentHealth, a firm unaffiliated with CNN that distributes the programs and sells it to advertisers.

The decision by Gupta keeps the door open for Chicago neurosurgeon Dr. Gail Rosseau to be the next surgeon general.

One of only 300 female neurosurgeons nationwide, Rosseau, 52, is chief of surgery at the Neurologic and Orthopedic Institute of Chicago and an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Rush University Medical Center, the teaching hospital on Chicago's West Side.

The River Forest resident went through a preliminary vetting process late last year, including interviews by key senators and members of Congress on various health committees.

Cop seriously injured when SUV rear-ends squad car

Naperville, IL - A police officer was seriously injured Thursday morning when a SUV rear-ended his squad car as he was making a traffic stop in west suburban Naperville.

At about 8:37 a.m. Thursday, the Naperville police and Fire department responded to an accident on Washington Street south of Olympus involving a Naperville police squad car that was struck by another motorist while the officer was conducting a traffic stop, according to a release from police.

The officer, a 13-year veteran, had stopped a vehicle for speeding in a construction zone northbound on Washington, police reports show. The officer was sitting inside the marked squad with emergency lights activated when it was struck from behind by a 2007 Lexus RC400H SUV.

The force of the crash pushed the squad car into a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, the report said.

The officer, whose name was not released, was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville with undisclosed serious injuries, the release said.

The driver of the SUV, Mary Mastro, 54, of Palos Park; and the driver of the Cobalt, Evelin Vazquez, 20, of Bolingbrook, were not injured.

Mastro was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to yield upon approaching an emergency vehicle (Scott’s Law), the release said.

The investigation of the accident left Washington Street closed between Hobson and Gartner roads until 11:30 a.m.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the Naperville police Traffic Unit at (630) 305-5285.

Death of man found duct-taped to chair ruled homicide - Maybe he duct taped himself to the chair???

Photo: The way it should of been - but wasn't.

Chicago, IL - The death of a 90-year-old man found duct-taped to a chair in his south suburban home has been ruled a homicide by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Steger Police were called to check on Joseph Basile Saturday after neighbors found him duct-taped to a recliner, Police Chief Richard Stultz said.
A dog leash used to restrain the man also was found in the home, and officers at the scene saw bruises on Basile's arms, police said.
A neighbor discovered the conditions after a caregiver staying with Basile asked her to come over and stay with him. Basile was taken to St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, where he died Tuesday.
The family told police they had restrained him because Basile, who also suffered from dementia, tried to get up and move around, which resulted in his falling and hurting himself.

United States Olympics Chief resignation stuns Chicago

Jim Scherr resigns as head of United States Olympic Committee
Body gets new leader only months before 2016 Games selection

Four years ago, when New York's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games ended in a resounding defeat, Bob Ctvrtlik knew that years of revolving door-leadership within the U.S. Olympic Committee played a role in that outcome.

"We haven't had a lot of continuity with international relations," Ctvrtlik said in 2005, when he was one of the International Olympic Committee members from the United States. "People in other countries put a lot of weight on face time."

Thursday's surprise resignation of USOC Chief Executive Jim Scherr gives the rest of the world the old impression the USOC still can't get its act together.

Where Chicago's 2016 Olympic hopes are concerned, there could not be a worse time for the USOC to lose the man who has been its primary face since 2003.

"I was disappointed. I don't think it helps in any way, but I don't think it damages us," Chicago 2016 Chairman Patrick Ryan said Thursday. "[But] I was shocked. I'm surprised. Not happy."

In the four years before Scherr took over, first as acting CEO and then permanent boss, the USOC had four presidents, four CEOs and four marketing directors.

The stability since his arrival allowed the USOC and Chicago to establish what both sides called an unprecedented partnership to promote a U.S. bid. Ctvrtlik, the USOC vice president of international relations, has a key role in that partnership.

Now Chicago must waste time and energy before the Oct. 2 vote for the 2016 host in trying to explain why the USOC once again has an new CEO. Stephanie Streeter of Neenah, Wis., was given the job on an interim basis.

"Continuity is important but no less important than making changes to address the needs of the organization in the future," Streeter said in a teleconference. "We don't see a huge impact on the bid."

Streeter, 51, former chairman and CEO of Banta Corporation, was a four-year starter on the Stanford women's basketball team.

In several weeks of intense USOC board discussions over the organization's direction, Streeter, a board member for four years, apparently was vocal in wanting someone with more impressive business credentials and experience at the head of the USOC during the economic crisis.

The USOC tried that twice before Scherr took over, hiring former corporate chief executives Norm Blake and Lloyd Ward, both of whom proved completely unsuited to run an organization with a structure unlike any corporation. Tuesday, Scherr had announced the USOC must cut $7.1 million from its 2009 budget and would have trim up to 15 percent of its staff to do so.

Scherr is a 1988 Olympic wrestler with a MBA from Northwestern who had restored stability to USA Wrestling before moving to the USOC. During his tenure as CEO, U.S. Olympic teams had unprecedented success.

Larry Probst, the video games magnate who became USOC chairman in October, said Thursday the change grew out of a need for a "new and different set of skills."

"[Streeter] is a world-class business executive with highly developed CEO skills," Probst said.

And a complete unknown to nearly all the IOC members who will choose the 2016 host.

If you think corruption is prevalent in Chicago, New Orleans or New York, you haven't seen anything till you have seen the corruption within the whole Olympic selection process and within the International Olympic Committee.

Everything is controlled by cash bribes, young sexy prostitutes and very expensive gifts. This has been going on for years. Mainly because there is no "international FBI police like group" to go after it all. Its a free for all. And probably one of the main reason why Mr. King of Corruption Mayor Daley wants the Olympic games to come to Chicago.

I have a funny feeling we will be hearing about this resignation again in the future and exactly why it took place.

Judge finds Chicago police Supt. Jody Weis in contempt of court

A federal judge found police Supt. Jody Weis in contempt of court today and gave him until 8:45 a.m. Monday to release the names of officers who have at least five citizen complaints filed against them since 2000.

Last month, Weis refused a magistrate judge’s order to turn over the papers, saying handing over the names would “compromise officers’ performance, threaten safety, reduce morale and improperly impugn many officers’ otherwise well-deserved good reputations.”

The list is being sought — along with a more specific list of officers with excessive-force complaints filed against them — by attorneys suing the city over an allegation that an officer falsely arrested and used excessive force against two children.

In her lawsuit, Donna Moore claims Officer Robert Smith falsely arrested her 11-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter in 2007 over a playground dispute involving Smith's son. Smith allegedly "physically attacked" the children before they were arrested.

Judge Robert Gettleman ordered Weis to be in court Monday if he does not intend to turn over the lists.

Mayor Daley has backed Weis' decision to not hand over the names.

Flint Taylor, a lawyer for Moore, had asked the judge to issue financial sanctions against the city because of the violation of the judge's order.

This morning, Gettleman accused lead city attorney Terrence Burns of making "incorrect" representations to the court, Taylor said in a prepared statement.

It was revealed in court that the lists include some officers with more than 60 complaints filed against them.

"We are very heartened by Judge Gettleman's strong reaction to Weis and the city's continuing lawless conduct and his finding that their conduct is directly contemptuous of the federal court," Taylor said. "We trust that the city will rethink its potion before Monday and produce the names. We also look forward to questioning Weis about his bad faith conduct and his policy of protecting, rather than rooting out, the department's worst repeaters."

"It wasn't a surprise to us," responded Jennifer Hoyle, spokeswoman for the city’s Law Department. “We expected, based on the circumstances, this was a possible outcome. We are working with Supt. Weis and the police department to determine how we will respond to this.”

Det. Shavedlongcock:

OK, who wants the pinch???

Looks like Mayor Daley, the City of Chicago and Jody Weis are going to be battling Federal Courts on this one.

Jody will use this as a "tool" to say he has our backs. But let's face it, the only reason the city isn't giving up these names is to protect the city and it's pocket book. That is the real and true reason why the city isn't giving up these names. Not to mention there are more than a few very well connected cops (Some being the sons of bosses and some being politically connected) on that list.

Chicago Police-related shooting investigation results to be posted online

The independent body charged with investigating Chicago police conduct will -- for the first time --begin posting shooting investigation results on its website, authorities said.
The decision by the Independent Police Review Authority marks a dramatic change in how members of the public can follow up, and understand, results of the investigations, experts said.
"It's a sea-change,'' said Prof. Art Lurigio, professor of criminal justice and psychology at Loyola University. "I think for most large urban police departments, this is a major step forward in police accountability to the public. It opens up lines of communication. . . That builds greater trust.''

Lurigio said posting results also will provide a chance for the public to understand how "complicated shooting incidents are.''

"They are really made within a second,'' he said. "The public doesn't understand police protocol. The decision to use a weapon is one of the most serious an officer has to make in his career.''
IPRA began releasing annual reports last year that include snap-shots of information on complaints that are sustained against officers.
Posting shooting investigation results moves the agency's actions even further into the public view, especially because cases that are not sustained against officers will be included, IPRA officials said. The reports also will be more detailed, including a summary of the incident, evidence and witnesses accounts.

Names will be withheld.

The first postings are expected to go up on IPRA's website as early as Thursday, IPRA officials said.

At the same time, IPRA and the Chicago Police department will launch the department's new shooting review panel -- a non-disciplinary police body that will examine all officer-involved shootings for larger issues that could be addressed in training or policy.

IPRA will be forwarding the first cases for review to the panel -- formally called the Force Analysis Panel -- this week. The cases are those that IPRA has already ruled on. IPRA reports and documents will be used by the panel, which will include the heads of Chicago Police patrol, detective, training and S.W.A.T. sections.

Mayor Daley closed the Office of Professional Standards -- long perceived by the public to be too secretive and a rubber stamp for the department -- in the summer of 2007 and replaced it with IPRA, which is now charged with investigating all excessive force and police shootings cases.

Several hundred pounds of marijuana found hidden behind store's 'false wall'

Several hundred pounds of marijuana were recovered behind a basement wall Wednesday night and a man was arrested during a bust at a grocery store on Chicago's Far South Side.
Chicago police and members of the Illiana Regional Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at the Taste of Mexico on the 12200 block of South Halsted Street at 6:22 p.m., said South Chicago District Cmdr. Eric Carter.

A semi-automatic handgun was also recovered, police said.

Recio Cruz, 38, of the South Side, was charged with the manufacture and distribution of cannabis, Carter said.

Chicago police and members of the Illiana Regional Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at the store, he said.

Task force members received information that marijuana was being kept in "multiple rooms" at the store, Carter said. As it turned out, 300 pounds of marijuana was found behind a "false wall" in the basement, while "some paraphernalia and different things throughout the store contributed to the distribution," he said.

The investigation started in a south suburb and "led us back into the city," said district Lt. Maury Richards, who had been on the scene Wednesday night.

"It seemed to be a large-scale operation. Cannabis was being sold in pound increments," Richards said.

The marijuana distribution operation at the store had been going on "for some time," the lieutenant said. "We're sure an operation that large is part of an organization, and that's part of our investigation at this point."

The marijuana and handgun were displayed to the media Wednesday night in the auditorium of the South Chicago District police station, 2255 E. 103rd St.

Maybe somebody should mention to Cmdr. Eric Carter that when you go into the district next to your district and hit gold...You don't run back to your district with the gold.

The proper thing would have been to display the recovery in the 5th District and share the good work with the commander from the 5th District. Running back to your own district is seriously fronting off the other commander.

But overall, congratulations and good work!

Ex-Bear: Suspect in killings 'had a crush' on me

A woman accused of killing the girlfriend and unborn child of ex-Bears star Shaun Gayle was arrested after a friend of hers agreed to wear a wire and recorded the woman admitting to committing the murders, authorities said today.
The recordings finally led to a break in the October 2007 murders: Marni Kay Yang, 41, of the 5100 block of North St. Louis Avenue in Chicago, is charged with fatally shooting Gayle's girlfriend Rhoni Reuter and their unborn child, authorities said this afternoon.
Lake County State's Atty. Michael Waller said Yang's friend "was instrumental in solving the case" by becoming more cooperative during the last week and agreeing to wear a wire. While talking to the friend, Yang "admitted to her involvement" in the murders, he said.
Waller said Yang went to great lengths to conceal the murders -- renting a car and placing stolen plates on them the day of the murder;paying for it with someone else's credit card; using a disposable cell phone that could not track her movements; wearing a wig and a hooded sweatshirt; using a silencer she apparently made from items bought at a Home Depot.
He noted that Yang was part of the Chicago Police Department's community policing program and said she might have learned things through it that helped her plan the killings.
Yang was ordered held without bail this morning during a hearing that drew crowds of police officers as well as Gayle, dressed in a gray suit.

And these women are just as bad trying to trap some multi-million dollar sport player with a baby.

Morality and society is on a downward spiral and it doesn't look like there is anything in the future that is going to improve it. Other than the "second coming of Christ".

And just like Shaun Gayle said...He never had sex with the murderer! Right...Sure... Sorry not believing that one!

Chicago gun violence costs $2.5 billion a year: Report

The social costs of gun violence in Chicago total about $2.5 billion each year, according to a report released Tuesday by an academic group formed to research effective ways to reduce violent crime.

"Gun Violence among School-Age Youth in Chicago," the first report from the University of Chicago Crime Lab, used interviews, focus groups, police data and social research to characterize factors underlying Chicago's escalating murder rate.

Expanding upon previous research that every crime-related gunshot wound causes around $1 million in social costs, the report's four authors calculated the annual cost of gun violence at $2.5 billion, or $2,500 per Chicago household.

The cost reflects in part the repellent effect of violence upon city populations, pushing more people into outlying communities, said Crime Lab director Jens Ludwig, a professor of social service administration, law, and public policy at the university.

"Every city is trying very hard to encourage families to live in the city to support the tax base so that we can improve city services for everyone in the community," Ludwig said. "But gun violence winds up making that much more difficult."

Other findings from the report include:

--Most of residents at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center suffer from at least one psychiatric disorder.

--The average juvenile in custody scored lower on a vocabulary test than 95 percent of the general youth population.

--More than a third of homicide victims had alcohol in their system, while only 3 percent showed traces of "hard drugs" like heroin or cocaine in their blood.

--Four-fifths of Chicago homicide victims in 2008 died from gunshot wounds.

While some of these risk factors for youth gun violence were previously shown by other studies, characterizing the magnitude of these factors could suggest different strategies for violence reduction, Ludwig said.

"There are a bunch of things around the mental health piece and the schooling piece that I think people might not have realized and provide real targets of opportunity, above and beyond the sort of things that we've already been doing," he said.

The report recommends that intervention programs should seek to help children before the age of 13, the age at which Chicago and nationwide arrest rates begin to rapidly rise. It also endorses programs that offer immediate rewards for good behavior – such as the cash-for-grades program implemented last year by Chicago Public Schools – and swift but less severe punishment for crimes.

No specific programs are outlined in the report, though the group is openly accepting proposals to reduce crime and violence. The group will then help secure funding for approved programs and evaluate their outcomes with the rigor of a medical trial.

"What we want to try to do is take advantage of the fact that there are lots of people out there who really understand the problem in a deep and full way and already have developed promising ideas about what to do given their experience," Ludwig said.

Family of Unarmed Man Killed by San Francisco Transit Officer Sues for $50M

Which is $49,999,999.99 more than this piece of shit trouble maker was worth!
OAKLAND, Calif. — The family of a man slain by a former Bay Area transit police officer early New Year's Day filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the officer and the transit agency.

Oscar Grant's family is suing the Bay Area Rapid Transit agency, former officer Johannes Mehserle, BART police chief Gary Gee, and officers Tony Pirone and Marysol Domenici.

Grant family attorney John Burris said the shooting was intentional. He said Grant was unlawfully detained, arrested and deprived of urgent medical care after he was shot by Mehserle on a train station platform in Oakland.

Filed in U.S. District Court in Oakland on Monday, the lawsuit said the officers' conduct was "extreme, unreasonable and outrageous." Grant and his friends were pulled off a train by BART police investigating reports of a fight.

In January, Grant's family filed a $25 million legal claim against BART. But Burris said the lawsuit is seeking double that amount since the family has received more information surrounding the shooting.

"This is more egregious than I initially thought," Burris said. "Since then, I've had the benefit of listening to more interviews, seeing more tape and I have a fuller understanding of the facts that Mr. Grant's civil rights were violated long before he was shot."

Dale Allen, an attorney representing BART, said Pirone lawfully detained Grant and his friends. He called the shooting "a tragic accident," adding that BART has discussed mediation with Burris "in hopes of bringing some closure to the Grant family."

The shooting — which grabbed national attention after cell phone videos of the incident began circulating on the Internet and television — continues to cause community outrage and has led to numerous protests and arrests.

Under heavy police presence, more than 150 people Friday joined Grant's family, his girlfriend Sophina Mesa and their 4-year-old daughter for a peaceful celebration in his hometown of Hayward on what would've been Grant's 23rd birthday.

Mehserle has pleaded not guilty to murder and is free after posting $3 million bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 23.

There is a gag order in the case. But Mehserle's attorney, Michael Rains, has previously said Mehserle his client had meant to fire his Taser when he fired a single shot with his pistol.

Rains has argued against the court-imposed gag order, saying it prevents him from fighting negative publicity about his client which could prejudice potential jurors.

Also named in Monday's lawsuit is Pirone, who has been identified as hitting Grant in the head shortly before Grant was fatally shot. The suit also says Pirone threatened to use his Taser on Grant and his friends if they did not comply will his orders.

Pirone's attorney, Bill Rapoport, said that Grant provoked Pirone's blow by trying to knee Pirone at least twice. Rapoport does not think his client will face criminal charges.

"Officer Pirone has no civil liability or nor criminal culpability in relation to this incident," Rapoport said Monday. "He did nothing wrong."

Domenici is accused of repeatedly pointing her Taser and threatening to stun them in the face.

Pirone and Domenici remain on paid leave. BART is conducting a criminal investigation of the officers' actions which will be turned over to Alameda County prosecutors to decide on possible charges.

And maybe, just maybe it this inner city fucking asshole wasn't acting like a jagoff with all his gang banging buddies on the subway system and wanting to taunt and fuck with the police...He would be alive today. Instead he is dead and an officer is facing murder charges. People such as he really are a plight on our society and our social system. If this was in front of the Honorable Judge Shavedlongcock's court... it would be goodbye asshole and you get nothing and like it!

Six cops to be disciplined over teen who impersonated cop

Six Chicago police officers will be disciplined for allowing a 14-year-old police impersonator to scam his way onto the streets for a five-hour tour of duty that included driving a squad car, Police Supt. Jody Weis will disclose today.

Sources said Weis won’t reveal the precise punishment for the six officers, who must be notified individually and given an opportunity to challenge the allegations, under union rules.

The punishment could range from reprimands to suspensions or firing.

The number of officers held responsible could rise to seven if officials succeed in identifying the officer apparently responsible for snapping a picture of the handcuffed teen in a juvenile lock-up that ended up in the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Internal Affairs Division completed its report on the embarassing breach at the Grand Crossing District station after reviewing surveillance tapes and conducting more than 100 interviews.

Last month, Weis assured outraged aldermen that disciplinary action would be taken for, what he called the “unforgivable” and “horribly embarassing” Jan. 24 incident.

“You can’t have a breach of security like this without someone being held accountable … There will be discipline administered,” Weis told the City Council’s Police Committee. “It has to be done after a thorough investigation … It has to be fair. It has to be consistent, and it has to be done in a method that will prevent this from ever happening again.”

The 14-year-old, who was released from custody last week, entered the Grand Crossing station through a back door that was propped open to give officers easy access.

During his two-hour return to the City Council hot seat, Weis revealed that the teen pretender had no gun, no police ID and a bogus badge in his pocket. But he still managed to sign out a police radio and stay out on patrol, unchallenged by a 40-year-old partner, who had been on the job for just two years.

The teenager didn’t write tickets, but Weis said he did “have interaction with people on the streets” who thought he “looked older,” in part, because of his facial hair. One civilian interviewed said he looked “like someone in training.”
The teen had tried and failed to enter another district station earlier that same day.
Weis will also acknowledge a Sun-Times report that the 14-year-old also drove the squad car.

Like I have said before...No punishment for anybody at police headquarters who have left each of our police stations wide open with no security, many without even fencing or secure parking lots but it will be all the fault of the personnel at the district. SMOKE AND MIRRORS... and I will bet my paycheck on this one that if any of these officers are given suspension time, THEY WILL WIN IT BACK IN THE END. Security starts at the top and when they failed to provide any security at all for these police stations - don't blame the cops working the district.

Internet giant America Online headlined its daily news coverage today with a story and polls covering the "Birthers," a group of people it describes as "fringe conservatives convinced that Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because of supposed questions surrounding his birth status."

The AOL coverage quotes an extensive Politico article and cites WorldNetDaily as the source for news on the United States Justice Foundation's most recent attempt to demand Obama give legal evidence of his constitutional eligibility to serve as president.

Politico's coverage of the questions that still linger over Obama's birth, however, is far from kind.

My view is simple. Had Barack Obama been born in Hawaii, I am sure Obama would of just released the records by now and it would of also saved Obama millions in lawyer and legal fees. Also what I really find strange with all this Obama-madness is that if he was really born in a Hawaii hospital, wouldn't you think that hospital would have a sign or boast of his birth there. It would be worth millions in free advertisingfor that hospital.

So yes, I believe Obama was born in Kenya, Africa. But I also believe that this liberal politically correct country isn't going to let the 1st 1/2 black president be thrown out of office on a mere constitutional requirement. That is if the liberals even really believe in the constitution.

Two Different Area Murder Suicides

Richard C. Wiley shot his family with son's Civil War replica rifle, left 40-page suicide note
Man in murder-suicide killed another wife 24 years ago

Three people were found dead in the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette parsonage Monday in what police believe was a double-murder suicide. Police believe Kathy Wiley-Motes and her son Christopher Motes were murdered by Wiley-Motes' husband, Richard C. Wiley, who also was found dead inside from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. In 1985, Wiley was sentenced to 30 years in prison for stabbing to death his wife Ruth, then 25 years old.

Police: Two dead after gunfire at Hammond Marina
A man and a woman died Monday after a gun was fired at the Hammond Marina and a sport utility vehicle rolled into the water, Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller said.

Miller was told the woman died Monday afternoon at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond. The woman appears to have died of a gunshot wound, Miller said. The man died on the scene of a gunshot wound to his torso, Miller said.

Lake County coroner's office investigators were on the scene in the afternoon, but identities for both victims were not released Monday night.

The man and the woman were sitting in a black Hummer H2 believed to have a Florida license plate in the marina parking lot about 12:45 p.m. Monday when a security guard told them they couldn't park on the marina's ramp into the water, Miller said.

Shortly after that, a shot or shots were fired, Miller said. The woman fell out of the Hummer and the vehicle rolled into the water, he said. Emergency crews responded to the incident soon after. A bullet found at the scene was from a .40-caliber or .45-caliber handgun. A motive has yet to be established, Miller said.

Administrative staff for the Hammond Port Authority could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.

Hammond Deputy Fire Chief Pat Moore said crews, including Lake County's dive team, were attempting to pull the Hummer out of the water just after 2 p.m. After the Hummer was pulled out of the frigid water, a body slumped in the driver's seat was visible. The vehicle was towed from the scene and was believed to have been taken to Crown Point for investigation.

Miller said the man was 39 years old and carried a Mississippi driver's license. The woman was 55 years old and carried a Florida driver's license, but Miller said she may own a home in Valparaiso. Their identities were not available late Monday.

Access to the marina was blocked while police and emergency response crews were on the scene. Most crews responding to the incident left the scene about 4 p.m.

Miller asked anyone with information to call Sgt. Thomas Grabowski at (219) 852-2983.

The first one is definately a murder-suicide and the second one sounds like a murder suicide.

In the first one, the killer also killed his first wife 24 years ago. It's a shame that the system keeps letting violent offenders who kill out of prison early, only to kill again. The only positive thing here is that he will never kill again.

More Daley selling off Chicago to pay for corruption - CTA puts out 'for sale' sign

PHOTO: A brick two-flat at 1809 W. Patterson Ave. next to the Brown Line elevated train structure near the Addison station is one of the properties being offered for sale by the Chicago Transit Authority on a Web site. The CTA owns more than 400 properties, although many are needed for operations.

For commuters looking to buy a home or start a business near a transit line, the Chicago Transit Authority may have just the deal.
The CTA is opening up its vast real estate portfolio in Chicago and the suburbs in a bid to sell or lease surplus properties and bolster the transit agency's sagging bottom line.
The timing of this endeavor to unload non-essential assets could hardly be worse, given the sorry state of the economy.
But potential bidders can start their searches by doing an Internet drive-by at ctarealestate.com.

On the "For Sale" list, billed as a "rare investment opportunity in Lincoln Park," are two multistory brick buildings on West Armitage Avenue near the CTA Brown Line Armitage station.

The CTA bought the properties as part of the $530 million Brown Line capacity-expansion project to make room for the renovated station, new stairways and longer platforms. In the process, part of the original buildings were removed, CTA officials said.

The Web site includes about a dozen parcels for sale and 19 retail spaces for lease in rail stations. The transit agency hopes to fill the spaces with businesses that offer more appealing and upscale services to commuters.

"If you are standing in a train station and look across the street and see a Starbucks or an Au Bon Pain [restaurant], the idea is to get them into a CTA space as part of rebranding the concessions network," said Kurt Little, managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle Inc., a financial services company.

The CTA last year retained the firm as its real estate broker to sign up concessionaires at train stations and expand efforts to establish transit-oriented development across the CTA system. It marked the first time the CTA has outsourced management of its real estate portfolio.

Even though the stagnating real estate market doesn't provide a good environment for the cash-strapped CTA to unload properties, the transit agency apparently is a motivated seller.

The CTA projects a $242 million shortfall in public funding for 2008 and 2009.

"We've got quite a few properties, and to keep hanging on to surplus holdings that do not advance the CTA's core mission of becoming a better transit system is not a good strategy," said Ken Kabira, CTA chief marketing officer.

"We don't have the luxury to wait for three years" when the market may improve, Kabira said. "We think it is in our best interests to dispose of those assets."

The CTA and Jones Lang LaSalle have not inventoried the total number of properties that could potentially be put up for sale, Kabira said. The transit agency owns more than 400 properties, although the total includes bus turnarounds and other facilities that are needed for operations, he said.

The CTA generated more than $7.2 million last year from property including retail concessions at rail stations and storefronts near stations, as well as park-and-ride facilities, parking spaces underneath elevated train structures and office space, officials said.

The CTA's 2009 budget does not provide income projections, saying only that the contract with Jones Lang LaSalle "is expected to yield results."

In addition to retail locations, residences and buildings in manufacturing or industrial areas, the CTA seller's book includes vacant land, parking lots under "L" tracks for companies to manage, offices and spots where automated teller machines and vending machines could be installed, officials said.

The CTA contract with Jones Lang LaSalle runs for five years and totals up to $4.2 million, officials said. So far, there have been no transactions, officials said.

Visitors to ctarealestate.com see a CTA rail system map, along with a list of seven categories of business opportunities.

By clicking on "Land / Buildings," the map is updated to show current offerings.

For instance, click on the whirling circle on the CTA Purple Line between Howard Street and Linden Avenue in Wilmette, and the listing that pops up shows a single-story brick building at 1210 W. Chancellor St. in Evanston.

Looking instead for investment opportunities in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood?

Well, there's a 4.68-acre vacant lot zoned for manufacturing that fronts West Cermak Road, West Ogden and Springfield Avenues. It's about three blocks from the CTA Pink Line 's Pulaski station.

"In today's economic climate, it is more important now than ever to enhance CTA's ability to increase revenues from sources other than fares," said Dorval Carter Jr., acting CTA president.

2 NFL players and 1 passenger still missing at sea. One passenger found clinging to the boat alive.

The Coast Guard rescued one of four missing boaters who was found clinging to an overturned boat about 30 miles off the Gulf coast of Florida Monday, but the search continues for the three other football players who are still missing at sea.

Nick Schuyler was found on top of the flipped boat on Monday afternoon, two days after he, Corey Smith, Marquis Cooper and Will Bleakley left on a fishing trip, Coast Guard spokesman Capt. Tim Close said.

Cooper, who owned the 21-foot fishing boat, is an Oakland Raiders linebacker. Smith is a free agent defensive end who played with the Detroit Lions last season. Bleakly and Schuyler are both former University of South Florida players.

Schuyler was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where he was reportedly in stable condition.

"I went and saw him first," Schuyler's mother Marcia Schuyler said Monday. "He told me, 'Mom, I kept saying you're not going to go to my funeral.' That's what kept him hanging on."

"Thank you for praying for us," Schuyler's father Stu added.

Schuyler reportedly told authorities during his rescue that all of the boaters were alive and together at about 2 a.m. Monday, but somewhow got separated.

Close said that Coast Guard officials are are interviewing Schuyler in the hospital in an effort to refine the search, which will continue into the night.

The four men were reported missing Sunday, after they didn't return home as scheduled on Saturday evening. The Coast Guard had searched about 16,000 square miles of ocean for the 21-foot boat.

Cooper owns the boat, and he and Smith, who were teammates with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004, have been on fishing trips before, according to Ron Del Duca, Smith's agent.

Coast Guard Capt. Timothy M. Close said at least one of the men was an experienced boater, and relatives provided the Coast Guard with GPS coordinates from previous fishing expeditions.

The 29-year-old Smith of Richmond, Va., is 6-foot-2, 250 pounds and had 30 tackles, including three sacks, and an interception in 12 games last season for the winless Lions.

Cooper, 26, who is 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, has spent five seasons with five different teams, appearing in 26 games with the Buccaneers in 2004 and 2005, but playing sparingly since. He grew up in Gilbert, Ariz., and his father Bruce is a prominent sportscaster for KPNX-TV in Phoenix.

Impeached Former Governor Rod Blagojevich lands six-figure book deal

Chicago, Il - Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is vowing to expose “the dark side of politics that he witnessed in both the state and national level” in a book due out in October, his publicist announced today.

The publicist, Glenn Selig, said Blagojevich signed the “six-figure book deal” with Phoenix Books, “run by maverick publisher Michael Viner.” The working title is The Governor.

Hours before the formal announcement of Blagojevich's book deal, one of his chief legislative critics announced a move to bar him from cashing in on the deal if the impeached ex-governor winds up being convicted of federal charges.

“Corrupt Illinois politicians, for example Rod Blagojevich, are looking to cash in by telling their stories after the fact,” Rep. Jack Franks (D-Woodstock) said. “They should not be allowed to benefit from their actions in any way, most of all financially.”

Franks’ bill would cover any book or movie deals that detail a crime for which the elected official was convicted, and any profits derived from the deal would have to be turned over to the state of Illinois.

Selig described the planned book as a tell-all. The governor, according to a news release, will write about the discussions, the considerations and the factors involved in picking President Obama’ s successor to the U.S. Senate.

“The governor chose to go with a large independent company because he wanted to tell his story without any restrictions over content that might’ve come with a major publishing house,” Selig said in the release. “He simply did not want to accept constraints or conditions on what he could say in this book.”

Selig said Blagojevich won’t “pull any punches” and plans to “reveal information and provide insights that will at times be embarrassing to himself as well as to others.”

“There were some people in high places who didn't want the governor to write this book and worked to try to squash a book deal,” Selig said.

Specific terms of the book deal were not disclosed.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

Amazing. I mean real amazing. Only in America can an impeached and indicted state governor can reach a six figure deal for a book about his own corruption and how he picked scrambled eggs brains Burris for senator.

And the only reason he got such a deal is because the replacement senator was for Obama.

Illinois F.O.I.D. Card Application/Renewal Information

Det. Shavedlongcock:

Like many other officers my FOID card expired on Jan 01, 2009. In mid December I sent in my renewal form, photo and $10.00 money order.

As of this date I have not received the new FOID Card.

Here is the scoop - There is 28 sworn Illinois State Police Officers renewing and also approving new applications. As of 01/01/2009 they were approximately 30 days behind in this process and on 02/02/2009 they were up to 60 days behind the process. Today when I called to check on the FOID Card status I was informed that they are now 72 days behind in renewals and approvals.

The State of Illinois also just hired 8 call takers to answer the calls that one of the 28 State police officers assigned to that office use to answer.

Long story short is that if you have not received your new FOID Card - call 1-217-782-7980. Make sure you informed them you are a police officer. They are doing priority work for police officers and your call will be handled much quicker.
