Cop hurt in Niles crash

NILES, IL - A Niles police officer was hurt this morning when his squad car was hit by another motorist who may have been intoxicated, police from the near north suburb said.

About 2:40 a.m., the squad car was southbound on Milwaukee Avenue when struck by another vehicle heading west on Howard Street, Niles police said. Witnesses, including the officer, said the westbound vehicle ran through a red light and was speeding.

"Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash," police said in a news release this morning.

The 53-year-old officer, a 6-year veteran of the department, was trapped in the squad car, which was burning upon the arrival of emergency personnel. The officer had to be extricated from the squad car by two other Niles police officers.

"Their actions are being viewed as heroic as the driver's compartment of the squad erupted in flames after the officer was removed," the release stated.

The officer was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he remained in good condition after receiving stitches. Police said they believe the officer's seatbelt saved him from more severe injuries.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 24-year-old Chicago man, appeared uninjured at the scene, but was taken to Lutheran General for evaluation. No charges have been filed in the crash, which is being investigated this morning by the Major Crash Assistance Team, a north suburban multijurisdictional unit.

Boston Police Officer Investigated for Allegedly Escorting Porn Stars to Nightclub - The bad news - it was two male gay porn stars....

PHOTO: From "Aden and Jordan Jaric" Face Page Web Site

BOSTON — A Boston police officer is being investigated for allegedly helping two gay porn stars from Sacramento cut through traffic to get to a nightclub.

Police said the officer, whose name has not been released, has been placed on desk duty for allegedly using his cruiser to escort a car from Logan International Airport to the Roxy nightclub in Boston last October.

A law enforcement official close to the investigation confirmed Friday the escort was for Aden and Jordan Jaric, a couple who perform in live strip shows and pornography as "Brangelina." The official was not authorized to speak about the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

A phone listing for the Jarics could not immediately be found.

Boston police learned of the alleged escort after a photo of a police cruiser in one of Boston's highway tunnels, along with comments about the trip, were posted on a blog.

The night after the Jarics were at the Roxy, they performed a show at a Providence, R.I., male nude club called Trixx All Male Revue.

Providence police uncovered the photograph while investigating a report of explicit sexual activity at the Trixx show. When they realized the photo was of a Boston police cruiser, they contacted the city, the law enforcement official said.

The official said it appears the officer escorted the men from Logan airport to the Roxy, but not to Providence.

Drugs, weapons seized at home owned by high-ranking cop

Let me get this straight - Asst. Supt. Beatrice Cuello owns the condo - her daughter is shacked up there with a male with a long police record - but the daughter had no idea the male she was living with was making a living off narcotics and never saw all the weapons recovered by the policein the condo?????

If this was you or I do you think the CPD would give an official statement saying your or my daughter had no idea she was living with a convicted felon, drug dealer, who just happened to like to have weapons through out the residence???

GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK ALREADY! So tired of the double standards....

One even has to question if Asst. Supt. Beatrice Cuello didn't ask for this search warrant to be executed to get this piece of shit gang banging asshole away from her daughter.

CHICAGO, IL - A man with a long arrest record was taken into custody after drugs and weapons were seized in an overnight raid at a Southwest Side condominium owned by a high-ranking police official.
Casey Crawford, 28, had been living at the condo in the 4500 block of West 56th Street with the daughter of Asst. Supt. Beatrice Cuello. But authorities said the daughter did not appear to be involved in any illegal activity. Cuello does not live at the condo, and a source said the warrant did not list her as owning the condo.

Mayor Daley retracts his comments about city workers being "Clock Watchers"

Chicago, IL - Mayor Daley insisted today that he never said city employees were clock-watchers and accused the news media of misinterpreting his comments to manufacture a “confrontation.”

Instead of apologizing for offending city employees, Daley said his remarks had been taken out of context.

“I said that some people just watch the clock-government workers or anybody else-and leave,” Daley said. “But here in Chicago, we're fortunate that people just don't watch the clock.”

“I never said city workers of … Chicago are not good workers. Would you correct that for me? I know it’s hard because I’m a ping-pong ball for the media. If you don’t have the Daley name, I guess they don’t read the newspapers. But just correct that … Don’t misinterpret what I say to try to bring confrontation against city workers. That’s really unfair.”

He added: “City workers work hard. I talked about the city in a positive way. But you’re trying to follow me in a negative way so you have people yelling at me. I know that’s your gig. But be responsible.”

On Wednesday, Daley said Chicago was better off financially than most other cities because of his “out-of-the-box” decision to privatize four of Chicago’s most valuable assets: the Chicago Skyway, Midway Airport, downtown parking garages and city parking meters. He told business leaders he did it, in part, because city employees are no match for the private sector.

“They’re not customer-related,” Daley said Wednesday. “They’re gonna leave at 5 o’clock. They’re gonna leave at 4:30 or 4. I’m sorry. We’re on a time clock. They walk out. But in the private sector, when you have a customer, you’re gonna stay there making sure they're happy and satisfied.

“We can't compete with the private sector. The private sector has a complete idea of who your customers are. Government doesn’t have customers. They only have citizens.”

The controversy about the work ethic of city employees threatened to undermine recent efforts to repair a rift with organized labor that saw only one major union endorse the mayor’s 2007 re-election campaign.

Union leaders agreed to cost-saving work-rule changes and three furlough days in 2008 and 2009 to save hundreds of jobs in the mayor’s 2009 budget.

They also assisted the city in its uphill battle against potholes — by suspending overtime in favor of four 10-hour days.

Chicago Federation of Labor President Dennis Gannon said he was offended by the mayor’s remarks because of the “sacrifices” city workers make every day to get Chicago through another brutal winter.

“At 3 a.m., we’ve got guys making sure the streets are safe and sound for citizens trying to get to work,” Gannon said. “Firemen were out at Holy Name. When you had that huge water main break on the North Side, they didn’t care about the clock. They were there to do a job for taxpayers.

“There are hard-working people doing more work today than they’ve ever done because of the downsizing of government. I know a lot of city workers. They’re my friends. I grew up with them. I know how hard they work and how dedicated they are.”

Man Arrested for Hot Inflatable Threesome in Public

FLORIDA - We have a sneaking suspicion that the menage à trois is a lot more exciting in theory than reality. When you're actually entangled with two women who are both relying on your limited prowess for their satisfaction, that's a high-pressure game of sweaty, sexual Twister. Perhaps that's why 51-year-old George Bartusek decided to limit his three-way action to partners of the plastic variety.

The Florida man was arrested in the parking lot of a Publix store yesterday after police spotted him "performing activity to two different blow-up dolls in his vehicle that was consistent with masturbation and other simulated sexual activity." When confronted by police, Bartusek gave the extremely valid excuse that he was headed to Target to "get some clothes for his dolls."

Bartusek, wearing shorts with a three-inch opening in the crotch, was also spotted "aggressively" kissing the dolls, according to the police report. Because once you've got on your crotchless hot pants, gentle caresses are too much to ask for.

Mayor Daley has really lost it. This nutjob needs to be removed from office.

Mayor Richard Daley: City employees are 'clock-watchers'
Mayor Daley said today he unloaded four of Chicago’s most valuable assets for a $6 billion mountain of cash, in part, because city employees are clock-watchers who don’t think about the customers.

“They’re not customer-related. They’re gonna leave at 5 o’clock. They’re gonna leave at 4:30 or 4:00. I’m sorry. We’re on a time clock. They walk out. But, in the private sector, when you have a customer, you’re gonna stay there making sure they’re happy and satisfied,” Daley said.

“We can’t compete with the private sector. The private sector has a complete idea of who your customers are. Government doesn’t have customers. They only have citizens.”

Daley offered his blunt, candid assessment of city workers after joining business leaders at a Merchandise Mart news conference called to launch the so-called “Green Office Challenge” aimed at encouraging downtown buildings to conserve. He used the opportunity to defend his privatization efforts.

The great Chicago sell-off started with the Skyway ($1.83 billion), continued with downtown parking garages ($563 million) and Midway Airport ($2.5 billion) and culminated with the December sale of Chicago parking meters ($1.15 billion).

The crowded field of candidates running for White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel’s 5th Congressional District seat have been taking potshots at the Midway deal, with State Rep. John Fritchey (D-Chicago) likening it to “selling off your furniture to pay your mortgage.”

Today, Daley fired back. He noted that Fritchey voted for the 2006 bill that set the stage for the Midway and parking garage deals by granting blanket property tax exemptions to private investors who lease those city assets.

And Daley advised Fritchey and his rivals to “go back to business school” to learn the benefits of turning city assets into a cash windfall to keep building while other cities are cutting back.

"You should think outside the box. You can't ask taxpayers to be taxed more and more," Daley said.

I can't believe you have the fucking balls to say that all city workers are clock watchers. Your the biggest fucking asshole I have even come across in life. You are only in plush political offices due to your fucking white trash Irish dad who ripped off more money from this city than the mob ever even tried to.

You never worked a real fucking day of work nor has any of your asshole brothers. All scamming one way or another. Your one brother FORCED EVERY HIRED TRUCK OWNER to purchase their trucking insurance from his company (at a nicely over inflated price) in order to be hired bu the city - Your other brother had you lock in some nice little laws that gave him MILLIONS IN BENEFITS AND CASH while he was president of SBC. You and your family are nothing more than a parasite in every tax paying person in Chicago. You have fucked the police and fire departments every time when it comes time to a new contract. But have 1/2 a Billion to spend on a chrome bean park and another 1/2 billion dollars to spend for the chance at the Olympics!

And the only reason you don't look at a clock is because you work when you feel like it and steal more than you will ever need. So take your chrome bean and shove it up your ass - If Ron Huberman isn't in your ass already.

Longtime WGN radio host Eddie Schwartz dies - Chicago Ed

Eddie Schwartz, who at one time was the top-rated overnight radio host in Chicago, has died at age 62.
Schwartz, a native of the Southeast Side, had battled kidney- and heart-related ailments for the last 10 years. He died overnight in a Waukegan nursing home.
His radio career in Chicago spanned 26 years. After working as a gofer at WLS and WIND, he became a full-time host at WIND in 1973. But he was best known for his stint on WGN Radio from 1982 until 1992, when he moved to WLUP. He left WLUP in 1995.

Much of his popularity stemmed from his love for the city, his concentration on local issues and his willingness to help listeners with their problems. The "Good Neighbor Food Drive" that he started at WGN provided annual sustenance to the city's poor.
But both his homey style and his weight problems were frequent fodder for ridicule by other radio personalities.
After he left WLUP, he became a syndicated columnist for Lerner Newspapers.
In his later years, he was practically destitute.

Warner Saunders - TV anchor in the news with racial bias claims

PHOTO: Warner Saunders - TV Anchor man for decades but also has a son in the federal prison system for narcotics and also sending a fake bomb to a federal judge. A real fucking winner here!

The biggest story in local broadcast news Monday night had well-known names, controversy, plenty of TV reporters on the scene—and it didn't air on a single station that night.

WMAQ-Ch. 5 lead anchor Warner Saunders accused former Chicago Sun-Times TV/radio columnist Robert Feder of bias at the local American Federation of Television and Radio Artists chapter's annual meeting, where Feder was a guest.

Saunders, 74, brought a prepared speech to confront Feder before 100 or so at the Allerton Hotel.

Saunders said Feder diminished "the accomplishments of black talent while placing the spotlight on our deficiencies." Noting it was Black History Month, the Channel 5 anchor said inviting Feder was "like choosing David Duke to serve as mohel at a circumcision."

The comparison was loaded: Duke is a former Ku Klux Klan leader. Mohels perform Jewish circumcisions. Feder is Jewish.

"From the very beginning, [it] became a personal attack," Feder, who did not want to speak to the Chicago Tribune, said Tuesday to WLS-AM 890's Erich "Mancow" Muller and Pat Cassidy.

WBBM-AM 780's Craig Dellimore, AFTRA's local president and an African-American, was unavailable. But Eileen Willenborg, AFTRA Chicago executive director, said, "It was a forum for free speech to happen, and free speech sure happened."

WMAQ declined comment.

Saunders alluded specifically to Feder's take on African-Americans such as NBC's Lester Holt, ex-anchor Diann Burns and WBBM-AM's Felicia Middlebrooks.

"What I was writing about in each case had nothing to do with the individual's race," Feder said.

Much of Saunders' remarks focused on Feder's treatment of him and his health woes in 2002 and 2006.

Left unmentioned was the fact that Feder, whose 28 years at the Sun-Times ended with a buyout in October, said Saunders, set to end his 40-year broadcast career in May, had stayed too long.

"I simply wanted to confront him, face to face," Saunders said. "I just spoke my truth in front of a person who I felt has been unfair to me and to black journalists in this city. … Very few people who are not in our skin can understand this."

Saunders plans to expand his work as a diversity trainer after retiring. He believes everyone has racist thoughts, including himself, "and our simple task is to recognize it, admit to it and then move to change it."

A check back to 1992 found Feder calling Saunders "one of Chicago television's all-time greats," and, in 1993, a "community conscience."

But things were changed by a 2000 Feder column on an appearance by Saunders at Northwestern University. The anchor said those who cover TV don't know enough to write about it and accused a reporter of ageism.

Feder quoted him: "I'm always telling people in diversity classes that if somebody says something to you that may be racist or sexist or homophobic or ageist, confront them with it."

Feder said Tuesday his feelings were unhurt: "People in the room had read my column long enough to form their own judgments about the kind of person I am."

Said Saunders, "I've seen my wife cry too many times over the vindictive approach this person has taken."

Det. Shavedlongcock:

Warner Saunders has been a "whitie" hater his whole life. He grew up in an era that blacks were treated like animals and he has never forgiven the "white people" for this treatment. ANd he has said this several times in public before. But the media will kiss his ass and put the kid gloves on when handling the racist speech he gave.

As far as I am concerned... Fuck Warner Saunders and his dope dealing asshole son.

Nothing like Sheriff Tom "I frost my hair tips and never been married" Dart trying to screw 121 Forest Preserve Police Officers by firing them all

Sheriff: We can take over forest police
The looming threat of budget cuts has Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart pitching a plan to take over the Forest Preserve Police Department, a move Dart says can slice millions from the county budget.
"We investigate all criminal activity in the forest preserves, handle all their 911 calls and patrol the county highways and unincorporated roads that border most of them," Dart said.
Plans to dissolve the 121-member police force have been suggested before, only to be rejected.
But the budget crunch has President Todd Stroger's administration considering the plan.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

Cook County Board President Todd "I like men who frost their hair tips" Stroger just raised the county sales tax to the highest rate in the country. This after Todd Stroke-Off promised that there would be a surplus of revenue with the new tax.

But now after we all got the royal bullshit lie fuck and the tax went through the County is broke again. IS ANYBODY LISTENING? Really! HIGHEST FUCKING TAX IN THE COUNTRY! AND WE ARE FUCKING BROKE! We can't even afford to have the Forest Preserve Police or any toboggan slides in the woods either!

What does it really take to piss off the working people who are paying these taxes? The only reason the City and County are broke is because IT WAS ALL STOLEN!

I sure hope the Chicago/Cook County Tea Party is soon! This is totally ridiculous!

I have to call bullshit Suicide Ruling - 5th Grader Dies After Being Found Hanging in School Bathroom

EVANSTON, Ill. — An autopsy is planned on a 10-year-old boy who was found apparently hanged in an elementary school bathroom in the Chicago suburb of Evanston.
Officials at Oakton Elementary School called 911 after finding the child unresponsive at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
School janitor Elliott Lieteau said when he came into the restroom the boy was on the floor, but he says the child had been pulled off a hook. Lieteau says he performed CPR on the boy.
The child was pronounced dead at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago at about 4 a.m., and the Cook County medical examiner's office identified the fifth grader as Aquan Lewis.
The medical examiner's office said the boy was apparently found hanged.
Authorities aren't giving out many details about how the boy was found and what happened, but school spokeswoman Patricia Markham called the death an accident.

UPDATE: This incident has been ruled a suicide by medical examiner's office.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

I just don't see a 5th grade boy going into the boy's washroom and hanging himself on a coat hook. I do see a class room bully or maybe a group of boys placing this child on the coat hook as either a bad practical joke or just straight out bullying.

Sounds like a big cover up on this one.

Next door neighbor to Raleigh NC Mayor answers her door only to be kidnapped, taken to an ATM and force to take out cash.

Composite image of kidnapper/robbery.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- It was a knock on the door that Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker was not expecting. A neighbor went to his house after a terrifying experience.
"Obviously, we were surprised. My wife was there, and we got her the phone right away so she could make the calls," Meeker explained.
Police say ealier, the neighbor had answered the door at her residence on McCulloch Street. When she did, she was confronted by a man who implied he had a weapon.
"I've lived there for over 30 years and never had a problem like this occur in my neighborhood," Meeker said. "You don't know what this person's done before how many houses he's looked at before knocking on that particular door."
He made her take him to an ATM machine to withdraw money.
After taking $300, a necklace and the victim's $400 cell phone; the suspect then had her drive him to New Bern Avenue where he got out of her vehicle. The victim was not physically harmed.
The suspect is described as a heavyset African American man with medium complexion. He stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall. and is described as being in his 20s and wearing a hoodie-style jacket made of cloth with a tan camouflage pattern.
Anyone who believes they may be able to identify the suspect is asked to call the RPD's Detective Division at (919) 996-3555.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

If you watch the news video on this kidnapping/robbery you can tell that the neighborhood that mayor lives in is pretty much similar to our mayor's neighborhood. It appears to be a quiet working class white neighborhood. So this robbery most likely just picked a house to knock on the door and rob who ever answered. I think it would have been much funnier had he picked the house next door, kidnapped the mayor and made him take cash from the ATM. I guess the mayor of Raleigh, NC isn't like Mayor Daley with 24/7 police coverage all over his residence and personal body guards.

Sources: U.S. widens probe of Chicago police torture

Chicago, IL - Federal prosecutors continue to investigate decades-old allegations that Chicago police routinely tortured murder suspects, focusing on a half-dozen detectives following the recent indictment of former Cmdr. Jon Burge, the alleged ringleader, sources said.

Subpoenas served on the city show that prosecutors are looking at detectives long linked to Burge and the South Side precincts where he worked mostly during the 1980s. Among them: former Sgt. John Byrne, considered Burge's right-hand man, and former detective Peter Dignan.

It is not surprising that the investigation has widened beyond Burge. Last October, when prosecutors announced Burge's indictment on perjury and obstruction of justice charges, U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald said the charges "should serve as a warning" to those officers who worked for him and took part in alleged brutality.

"If their lifeline is to hang on a perceived code of silence, they may be hanging on air," said Fitzgerald, cautioning other officers could be hit with similar charges.

Now a clearer picture is emerging of where the investigation is heading. Prosecutors are looking for medical records or testimony by a doctor to corroborate claims of brutality, the sources said, and want to avoid pitting the testimony of a former inmate against that of an officer.

A case in point is Andrew Wilson, who was convicted of killing two police officers after giving a confession that Burge and his men allegedly coerced. Wilson contended he was beaten and shocked and forced to press his chest and abdomen to a hot radiator. He died in prison in 2007.

Last month prosecutors asked a judge to allow them to use Wilson's testimony from previous hearings and civil proceedings at Burge's upcoming trial.

The Chicago Police Board found Burge guilty in 1983 of violating department rules, a determination that ultimately led to his firing a decade later. Wilson's facial injuries and burn marks had been photographed by jail personnel and doctors following his 1982 arrest. The supervising physician at the Cook County Jail, John Raba, even wrote the police superintendent asking for an investigation.

"Dr. Raba and other witnesses who participated in the examination and/or treatment of Wilson have been located and are available to testify at trial," said last month's prosecution filing.

Federal authorities have also interviewed Gregory Banks, who says Byrne and Dignan and other detectives placed a plastic bag over his head to force him to confess in 1983 to a murder.

The Illinois Appellate Court ruled that his confession had been obtained through brutality and awarded him a new trial after Banks had spent 7 years in prison.

Banks later won $92,000 from the city after filing a federal civil rights lawsuit.

Lawyer Flint Taylor, who represents Banks as well as other alleged torture victims, said prosecutors have interviewed a number of his clients as part of the ongoing federal investigation.

"We've had contact with the U.S. attorney and presented several of our clients for interviews," he said. "It's my sense that they're doing a very aggressive and a thorough investigation with regard to some of Burge's midnight crew."

"We're hopeful there will be indictments brought against them and others," he added.

Dignan could not be reached Tuesday for comment. Byrne, who is a private detective in the south suburbs, said he was not surprised that federal prosecutors would focus on Burge's midnight shift officers.

"They're going to do what they feel is necessary," said Byrne, who indicated he has not been contacted by authorities. "They're going to be looking at everyone who was working then."

The passing of John J. Risley 06 NOV 53 to 03 FEB 09 - Class of 18 JUL 77

Former police deputy superintendent dies
John Risley, a former deputy superintendent for the Chicago Police Department who spearheaded the a unit that targeted the city's gangs, died early Tuesday, apparently of a heart attack, police officials said today.

Risley was a 31-year veteran of the department and had risen to the top rank under former Supt. Philip J. Cline before retiring in February 2008 with the incoming of a new police administration.

Former colleagues credit Risley with being a major part of Cline's effort to target crime hot spots in the mid-2000s by created the Targeted Response Unit, which placed officers in different parts of the city daily to quell street violence. Cline relied heavily on Risley's counsel, and the two were very close, the colleagues said.

"I've never met a finer human being," said Hiram Grau, former deputy superintendent of the department who has known Risley for years since the two were gang crime specialists. "He was an extremely conscientious, hardworking and dedicated officer."

Risley worked primarily in gang-focused units for much of his career, having served as a deputy chief of narcotics and gang intelligence before being promoted to deputy superintendent of strategic deployment in 2005.

Before that, Risley worked as the commander of the Central District, the high-profile district that includes the Loop. Colleagues say he was a supremely competent officer, committed to his job and put in long hours while leading as a "quiet gentleman."

"I don't think he ever raised his voice, but he had a way of getting the job done without being overbearing," said Chief of Patrol Michael McCotter, who got to know Risley when they were both district commanders. "When he retired, there was a void. We lost a good man."

As a lieutenant, Risley was seriously injured in 1998 when he was struck by a drunk driver, and spent weeks on a ventilator. McCotter said Risley worked hard to recover, and eventually made it back to the department and on to years of service.

Risley had recently started working at the Merchandise Mart as head of security, former colleagues said.
Funeral arrangements were pending.

God bless his family and Godspeed to him!

Virginia Commonwealth University Police Chief William B. Fuller arrested in underage sex sting

PHOTO: William B. Fuller, 50, was arrested in an online sting operation in Chesterfield County.

Virginia Commonwealth University Police Chief William B. Fuller has been arrested in an online sting operation in Chesterfield County and charged with soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl, police said today.

Police said Fuller, 50, of the 9000 block of Meadowfield Court in Henrico, was arrested yesterday. They said Fuller believed he was communicating by computer with an underage teen rather than with a police detective.

He was charged with using a communications device to solicit sex from a minor and attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

He is being held without bond in the Chesterfield Jail pending a pre-trial hearing this afternoon in Chesterfield Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

VCU suspended Fuller without pay and appointed Carlton Edwards, a VCU police captain, as interim chief.

"We've taken action," said VCU Rector Thomas Rosenthal. He said he received a call from university President Eugene Trani this morning about the arrest.

What is the attraction? What about a hot stacked 30 year old babe???

Suburban teacher charged in sex case found dead - Hung in his garage

Buffalo Grove, IL - A suburban middle school teacher accused of molesting a former student was found dead Monday in the garage of his Buffalo Grove home, police said.
The death of Ronald Vos, 53, a teacher at MacArthur Middle School in Prospect Heights, was considered an apparent suicide, Buffalo Grove police Cmdr. Steve Husak said.
An autopsy was expected to be done Tuesday, a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Vos, of the 500 block of Longwood Drive, was arrested Friday by Prospect Heights police and charged Saturday with criminal sexual assault.
Vos was accused of molesting the former student for about 1½ years, beginning in September 2005 when the boy was a 13-year-old 8th grader at the school, Prospect Heights police said.

Gas station cashier guilty of shooting customer

The cashier of a gas station on the South Side faces up to 30 years in prison after he was convicted today of aggravated battery with a firearm for shooting an angry and aggressive customer in the leg.
A Cook County jury also convicted Rame Gara, 24, of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, but acquitted him of attempted murder for the July 11, 2007, shooting of Tyrone Wilkins, 53, of Chicago.

Wilkins was angry about leaving his keys at the Citgo Station near 71st Street and Vincennes Avenue where Gara worked. Several confrontations were caught by the station's security cameras, and the videotape showed Gara shoot one time after he was accosted outside by Wilkins.

Gara's defense attorney, Sam Adams Jr., argued the shooting was done in self-defense.

The clerks shoots one time and it hits the asshole customer in the leg and he is CONVICTED? Even after the video tape shows the asshole customer accosting the clerk several times. This defendant should of asked for a bench trial and not a jury trial, especially in Cook County. Sounds like the Dot Head Clerk got convicted because he shot a brother - and nothing else.

Chicago, IL - Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond will be leaving the department to work for Chicago Public Schools, having been tapped by newly appointed schools CEO Ron Huberman to work in his administration in a top advisory role.

Bond confirmed the move by telephone today. She has been spokeswoman for the police department for the past four years, and served as Huberman's spokesman when he was the director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

Bond will be leaving the police department "within the month," she said. Her replacement has not yet been named.

Huberman, who in the past headed the CTA and was a Chicago police officer, replaced Arne Duncan as head of schools last week.

It is amazing that in a city of millions of people that the same names always pop up for all the high paying easy jobs. I guess out of all these millions of people there is only a small handful of people who are actually qualified to handle such important positions. That must be the explanation because we all know that political connections are no longer allowed to be a part of why a person is hired in this city.

Two men were killed early this morning and a woman seriously injured after their vehicle slammed into a building in the city's Brighton Park neighborhood, authorities said.

DUI Driver charged with hitting 3 teens walking on the sidewalk
An Aurora man has been charged with aggravated DUI after allegedly running over three Aurora teenagers standing on the sidewalk Saturday, authorities said.

Uriel Soto-Castro, 31, of the 400 block of Spring Street, also was charged with driving without a license, ignoring a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Two girls, ages 13 and 16, and a 15-year-old boy are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Aurora hospitals. A 17-year-old North Aurora girl who was with the others apparently barely avoided being struck, according to an Aurora police news release.

Police responded to Galena Boulevard and Hill Avenue about 3 p.m. Saturday and found the three teenagers lying in the roadway, according to Sunday's news release.

Soto-Castro was driving his 1990 Ford Thunderbird west on Galena with a passenger when he left the road and hit the teens, police said. He then allegedly continued west until he hit a 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck with a snowplow that was in the driveway of a business in the 1000 block of Galena.

Soto-Castro allegedly tried to flee but was held at the scene by the pickup driver, his passenger and an off-duty officer from Fox Valley. The pickup driver and passenger were uninjured in the crash, police said.

These 2 news stories are only a few of the many reported stories each day of some very bad driving. Many of the fatal accidents reported recently are single vehicle accidents where the driver lost control of the vehicle, usually due to speed and crashed their vehicle into a fixed object or building.

The driving out there has gotten worse. Please be careful and especially when you are using emergency equipment to get through traffic. Many of these drivers have no fucking clue on how to pull to the right for lights and sirens.

Chicago, IL - Four South Side woman have been charged with robbery and murder, accused of chasing a man down the street with knives and stabbing him to death, Chicago police said this morning.
The victim -- identified as Morris Wilson, 30, of the 500 block of East 80th Street -- and the four alleged attackers were drinking heavily in the apartment of one of the women in the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue at about 2 a.m. Sunday, a source said.
They started arguing and the man escaped to the street, the source said, but the four women chased him down and beat, stomped and stabbed him.
Police said officers responded to a report of the chase in the same block. There they found Morris on the sidewalk, bleeding from stab wounds.

According to an arrest report, officers followed a blood trail in the snow to an apartment building, where they saw four women matching the descriptions given in the call looking out from a second-story window.
When they arrested the women, officers saw that all four had blood on their clothing and one woman, Carmelita Hall, 25, of the 8400 block of South Drexel, had cuts on her hands.

All four women have been charged with armed robbery and murder.

The other women were identified as Tiffany Cox, 25, of the 8200 block of South Drexel; Roslind Ball, 23, of the 300 block of West Sherman Street in Evanston; and Miesha Nelson, 25, of the 7900 block of South Wabash Avenue, according to police.
They are scheduled to appear in bond court later today.
Dorothy Nelson, of the 7900 block of South Wabash Avenue, identified herself as the grandmother of Miesha Nelson. She said her granddaughter had not lived with her at that address since 2002.
Dorothy Nelson said she had never heard of Wilson or the other suspects until detectives called about Miesha Nelson's arrest. She said that she believed her granddaughter was innocent, but that Miesha had been troublesome in her youth.
"She always did what she wanted to do," Dorothy Nelson said.

Man charged in robbery, slaying - Is he the murderer in the other casino kidnapping-murder-robbery?

Chicago, IL - A Chicago man who allegedly followed a 55-year-old man home from a casino and then shot and killed him has been charged with robbery and murder, police said Sunday.

Arthur M. Grady, 30, of the 6300 block of South Champlain Avenue, faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery in the death of Ralph Turner outside his South Side home.
Cook County Judge Israel Desierto on Sunday ordered Grady to be held without bond. Grady is also charged with aggravated assault of a police officer in an unrelated case.

Prosecutors said Grady was at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., when he spotted Turner at a roulette table, and then saw him cash in a large number of chips. Grady allegedly followed Turner home and confronted him at 3:50 a.m. Friday as Turner got out of his car outside his home in the 8100 block of South Eberhart Avenue. Grady robbed Turner, and then shot him twice, according to police.

Prosecutors said witnesses saw Grady in the passenger seat of the vehicle that followed Turner home, not the driver's seat. Police said Sunday Grady is the only person charged in the crime and they did not have information about possible co-conspirators.

Cook County Sheriff's police make video poker raids

PHOTO: Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart helps wheel out an illegal video poker machine Saturday afternoon from Jack's Place in Midlothian, Illinois.

Cook County, IL - Thirty-one video poker machines were confiscated today from several south suburban businesses during illegal gambling raids by the Cook County Sheriff's Department.
No arrests were made, but officials say they're looking to charge employees who gave illegal payouts to customers using the video poker machines.

Offenders would face a misdemeanor gambling charge and a maximum fine of $1,000 and up to a year in jail.

Vice officers confiscated machines from 10 businesses--including some gas stations and liquor stores--in Ford Heights, Markham, Midlothian, Chicago Ridge, Summit, Brookfield, McCook, Cicero and Justice.

A combined $6,472 in cash was seized from them, officials said.

According to the Sheriff's Department, the machines are clearly marked "For Amusement Only," but players are able to spend up to $20 at a time to play.

Once a player has accumulated a certain amount of points, an illegal cash payout--or sometimes a payment by gas card--is made by an employee of the business, officials said.

Sheriff Thomas Dart said in a statement that video poker machine dealers are illegally expanding their customer base beyond bar patrons.

"People who may not normally frequent a bar and see a machine now are exposed when they stop for a newspaper or gallon of milk," he said in a statement.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

Hmmmm... 31 poker machines and $6472.00 in cash??? Must be some pretty broke taverns they hit. That comes out to about $200.00 a machine. Anybody who has sat in a bar watching drunks drop their cash into these machines, knows that each of these machines should have at least a $1000.00 bucks in them.

So either the mob was informed by an insider of this news media event... and the mob left a little cash in each machine OR somebody stole a whole hell of a lot of cash in the police counting room!

And what is with Mr. Frosted Hair Tips Sheriff Tom Dart posing as he wheels out a poker video machine? Give me a break... what a fucking tool and stroke job! This would be like Jody Weis wheeling out poker machines if the CPD hit a few bars, it isn't going to happen.

Man robbed, fatally shot returning from casino
Chicago, IL - A man from the South Side Chatham neighborhood was robbed and fatally shot as he returned home from a visit to a casino early Friday.

Ralph Turner, 55, was shot in the chest about 3:50 a.m. in the 8100 block of South Eberhart Avenue as he returned from visiting an area casino with friends, police said.

Turner, of the 8100 block of South Eberhart Avenue, was shot at 8129 S. Eberhart Ave. and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:30 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

The attacker shot Turner twice in the chest and then stole money, according to police. It was not known how much money the robber got away with.

An autopsy Friday found Turner suffered multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Det. Shavedlongcock:

The re-posted news story from 12 JAN 2009 was a news story about a person who was kidnapped from the parking lot of a Chicago area casino and subsequently murdered by being shot in the chest for the large amount of casino cash he had on him.

Now we have a second murder/robbery where the victim was shot in the chest and murdered for his casino cash. Hmmmmmm one has to wonder if they are connected?

I know in the first robbery/murder, the victim actually called 911 from the trunk of the vehicle and told the 911 operator what the names of the two people who shot him in the chest and placed him in the trunk of the vehicle before he died from his gunshot wounds.
